Default Breed help please..
Hi all. im very new here and the main reason im here is to ask for a little help regarding the breed of my dog her name is biley she is 16 months old and i bought her at 8 weeks old , the seller told me she was a bullmastiff mix, but i can still to this day see no trace of bullmastiff so i was wondering if any of you could give me any clues to wot she is, many people ask me if she is a stafford but i always say yes just for the sake of it but my mind still boggles so if any of you can be of help it would be fantastic..Thanyou for your time..

When you buy from a backyard breeder and aren't given a pedigree, it's hard to say what you're getting and will likely never know for sure. You can only go by what they look like and to me she looks like what main stream media here in the U.S. would call a generic "pit bull". In Europe where you are, she may be referred to as a Staffy mix. Did you have a chance to see Bailey's sire and dam? ... what do they look like?

Oh, and Welcome !!! Bailey looks like she is loved and well cared for

Edit: oops ... didn't see Jacko's post before I posted LOL

I can see the 'heft' of a mastiff in her build but can't make out another breed.

Taking a guess, I'd believe Mastiff mix. Mixed with what is anyone's guess unless the person you got her from told you. Mastiff mixed with some type of Pit Bull would be possible.

By the way, she is a very pretty dog! I'd pet her and let her sit on my lap for sure

I am a Mastiff lover. If I had a bigger home and more land I would have a Dogue De Bordeaux. I practically dance in place when I see a Mastiff in public and beg the owner to let me pet it.

I also have an American Bulldog that weighs 83 lbs and I occasionally let him sit on my lap for affection. It's fine until my legs go numb and I have to make him get down.

As long as you have her on Stafford passport I don't think you can hope for better. She MAY be a mix, but she certainly does look Staffy.
I would not suggest she may be mixed with bull mastiff as those dogs are on Germany's dangerous dog list while Staffy's are not (?).
Regardless, it really doesn't matter what we think ... the dog wardens will form their own opinions as they feel required. So keep the paper work straight and ensure there is no paper trail with an affiliation to "aggressive and dangerous" breeds.

1. Aggressive and Dangerous Dogs

  • American Pitbull Terrier or Pitbull Terrier
  • American Stafford Terrier or American Staffordshire Terrier or Staffordshire Bullterrier
  • American Bulldog
  • Bandog
  • Bullmastiff
  • Bullterrier
  • Dogue de Bordeaux
  • Dogo Argentino
  • Fila Brasileiro
  • Kangal (Karabash)
  • Caucasian Owtscharka
  • Mastiff
  • Mastin Espanol
  • Mastino Napoletano
  • Tosa Inu

2. Potentially Dangerous Dogs

  • Akbas
  • Briard
  • Berger de Beauce
  • Bullmastiff
  • Carpatin
  • Dobermann
  • Estrela
  • Kangal
  • Caucasian Owtscharka
  • Middle Asian Owtscharka
  • South Russian Owtscharka
  • Karakatschan
  • Karshund
  • Komondor
  • Kraski Ovcar
  • Kuvasz
  • Liptak (Goralenhund)
  • Maremma
  • Mastiff
  • Mastin de los Pirineos
  • Mioritic Polski Owczarek
  • Podhalanski
  • Pyrenean Mountain Dog
  • Raffeiro do Alentejo
  • Rottweiler
  • Slovensky Cuvac
  • Sarplaninac
  • Tibetan Mastiff

LOl, well you sound like the crazy doggy lover to me jean, well good for you. 83 Ibs jesus, are you sure you can still walk, yes and the american bullies are such nice dogs that i will say, like you if i had more land that would be a perfect par bailey and a bully, i love the eyes mostley the light blue, i think they realy stand out. well maybe when the time is right i will have one. but for now i got my hands full with this one....

---------- Post added at 07:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 PM ----------

wow. intresting joe. yes well as far as danger goes she is in very good hands, she has alot of contact with other dogs and is fantasic with children, not that i l would leave any dog alone with children, but yes the thing is its the other dogs that somtimes are the aggressive ones, take the german shepperd i do not know one that has ever been friendly towards bailey, i mean the system is so screwed up, and they keep giving our breed of dog the bad names, yes they are a handfull if you let them get into those ways and unfortunatly it happens somtimes , but its like walking the street you can be hit by a car any time. the ways of the world are shocking at times, but your info is fantasic thankyou...

Yep, no matter what happens ... the bully breed will get the blame. Stay safe out there svenals. I don't think you'll have any problems with the dog wardens as long as Bailey isn't running loose somewhere or care is taken to ensure no incidents occur. Good Luck !!!
