Default OMG! So I'm a Bad dog owner?
Apparently according to a lot of people I should dump my husband to be because I moved in with him and he doesn't allow house dogs. And because I have placed both snow and Koi outside, I am a terrible dog owner and my dogs are going to become bad dogs and end up on the news.

WHAT THE HELL.

D:

For one, these people do not know how I work my dogs and what I do with them when I get to spend time with them. And another thing is, just because they are outside doesn't make them any less my pet or loved. I still spend a lot of my time with them. Hell even by husband to be spends time with them!

Snow is in a pen and Koi is on a zip line. Seriously, Do you think I am a bad dog owner?

It doesn't make you a bad owner. It makes them dumb and ignorant.

everyone is going to say no. give it attention and food and water.. o and the main thing 90% DONT gibve their outside dogs.. OFF THE TIE OUT/kennel EXERCISE.

if you have ur dog out on one of those lil red cables... yeah.. thats an issue. You better order some of the right equipment.

I dont have any problemn with havin ur dog outside (EXCEPT: for the ones whom leave them outside in the 100* heat and the SNOW .). Personally.. i dont. I have a friend who does. She bring her dogs inside whenits over 90* or below 30*. Puts them in the garage. Thats the onyl way id ever keep a pup outside. Again.. its perfectly fine.. AS LONG AS U FOLLOW SOME OF THE PROPER TIE OUT 'RULES' lol

No, you are not a bad dog owner. As long as they get the attention that they need, and are well fed, vetted, and have food, water, and shelter then you are a good dog owner, regardless of where they sleep. Dogs are dogs, and some people seem to humanize them and forget that.

Btw, do you no longer have your old account on here? I know you went by another name before, right? Or am I just losing it? lol

LOL I forgot my pass an the email I used for it. So I just created another. I don't want to use the other one anymore either. LOL. But you remember me? nice LOL

And When it gets too bitterly cold out for the dogs I will have to arrange for them to be in the house some how. my dogs where not out in 100 degree weather or in freezing weather and I don't plan to start. Its just Snow and Koi both are very energetic dogs. They both are very young. My boyfriend lives in a small trailor with his two elderly parents. I felt I was making a very smart move by not forcing the dogs to be cramped in a kennel for the rest of their days.

Do you have a garage with electricity? That's an option for cold weather as well..

The dogs I had growing up lived outside and we would bring them in when it got below 0* and all they wanted to do was go back outside. They were Goldens though so they had naturally heavy coats.

Ask them if they think farmers are bad for not allowing cows/pigs/chickens in the house.

It is. Dogs are animals. Companion animals, but animals nonetheless. Animals belong outside, where they can run around like fools and breathe fresh air and piss whenever they want.

I made the comment that no dog will be equal to my family and I would never leave the man I love over one either. Placement doesn't mean a damn thing as long as they are taken care of.

I know just as many outside dogs as in, being in the middle of hunting country, and I don't notice one set being happier than the other. Being an inside dog has its perks, but so does being an outside dog. Outside dogs don't have to learn and obey man's rules, they get to be real dogs 24/7. They have their own space where they get to do as they please. Along with the stuff I mentioned before.

Doesn't make you a bad owner. I'm sorry you don't get to cuddle with your babies laying on the couch, though. I don't know if you would do that anyways, though. But one of my favorite parts about having an inside dog is cuddling with them and watching some TV.

---------- Post added at 01:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:36 AM ----------

I also think that a lot of people just have bad images of outside dogs. Some people, when they think of an outside dog, generally tend to think of a dog chained to a pole, dirty, covered in fleas, hungry and hot...at least that's how it's explained to me. Just explain to them that with yard treatment, flea treatment, food, water...all that...the outside is not a bad place for an animal to live. People just have the wrong views of things. Don't let it bother you. YOU know that your animal is taken care of and YOU know that you love them. Screw the people that try to assume.

I'm a furdaddy, LOL, I like laying on the couch with the dogs and letting Bonnie sleep in the bed with me. But during the day they are outside dogs, unless the weather is just outrageously bad. And because of that outside time, people think my poor dogs are neglected and abused. But you just have to be honest with people, try to explain, and if they won't listen, fuck em.

Alex; why do most dogs belong outside?. I understand Lovepups choice and I respect that, she knows that. I myself prefer dogs being inside and outside. I also like dogs more then people so I would pick my animals over a person. My dogs are more important to me them most people. I see my dogs as equals mostly. I do feel mostly bad for dogs that are left out BUT I do respect people's choices and as long as the dog gets what she/he needs then good. Anja, I know you love Snow and Kio. I respect your choice. At least you do what you can with them and there in a good home.

thats you, everybody has their own opinion on stuff, if the man dont want the dogs in his house soo be it, ill tell you one thing it wont kill a dog to live out side hell if it has food and water and a shade tree and a shelter it will be just fine, why most dogs belong outside!! i just couldnt see my self bringing a coon hound or beagle in your home, not everydog in the world belongs in doors thats just my opinion

I know this wasn't directed at me, but we had a dog once that just did NOT know how to behave. Despite training he refused to not use the bathroom on the floor, he refused to not tear up furniture. He quickly became an outside dog. We brought him in during extreme weather, but there just became a point where he could not be let inside anymore. Broke my heart, though.

That's ok. I'm apparently a bad dog owner because I crate/tie up and rotate. Nevermind the fact that it would be freakin' bloodshed if I left all the dogs and cats out loose together, or that with my daughters spleen issues, if she got knocked over in a scuffle she could literally hemorrhage to death. Ya... better to leave dogs running all over the place willy nilly. Screw safety. Funny though... the people who have said this have had major scraps break out, people and dogs injured or killed. People are clueless...
