Default any advice?
hi there i have a pitbull cross .
boxer and or ridgeback not sure. i bought her as a ridge back boxer cross. which i thought from pics online she looked very much like as a puppy. as she grew i wondered {thought} she looked kinda like a pitbull from pictures i seen online . she is now a year and 2 months. she is a great dog very loving and loved by her family. i recently found out that her dad was indeed a pitbull. i live in ontario canada and know that pitbulls are band hear. though i do see them around. so know im wondering if there is anything i should do. just not sure if i could get in trouble for having her. as i said she is a member of our family and loved very much. could she be taken away from us? could i get in trouble for having her ? any advice thanks chris...<

Do you have photos? I am in ontario myself.

She could very well be taken from you - What do her vet registration papers state? I would suggest fixing her, getting her microchipped and accustomed to a muzzle.

What do her vets have her registered as? May I ask whereabouts in ontario you are? Some municipalities are kind of lax about the ban, while others are guns a blazin' about it.

As I said, your best bet at this point without rehoming out of the province is to spay, chip and muzzle her.

vet has her down as boxer ridge back cross. thanks for the advice. she is going in to get spayed. really dont want to say were we are, just that its a smaller city and i think they must be pretty lax round hear thank god. i have seen lots of dogs around town that look very much pitbull. and i see them again and again round town. our girl has been going to obedeance classes. but she is very aggressive in our yard puts on quite the show,or sometimes in the car. not really as much whwen out walking though. i have just been a little worried because i honestly didnt know she was pitbull when i got her. and she and everybody in our family has bounded so much. i wish there wasent any ban. she is such a loving dog even though shes a little fire cracker sometimes.

I wouldn't judge whether or not the city is lax just because there are ignorant people deliberately putting their dogs life at risk.

I am in Brampton - I see tons of unneutered/unmuzzled "pits" all the time and I can't fathom it! Especially after the Brittany and Rambo incident a few years ago. Dogs spotted and taken from their own backyards.

Being lax also does not equate to not being in compliance with the legislation.

should she be muzzeld in her own yard when she goes out to do her bussiness. i have her on a chain attached to a run cable. but like i said she does put on an aggressive show sometimes when dogs or certain people go by. we also have a fence but its not that tall and is the chain link type see {through}

I meant when she is off your own property she must be muzzled.
