My wife just saved a brindle pit bull that was playing in traffic. He is getting along with my pit bull for now but I need to find this guys home soon. The dog is wearing a collar with leash so i know he belongs to someone but there is no contact info on the collar. Is there a quick and easy way to see if he has been chipped and try to find the owner that way? I already put a post up on craigslist.

Take him to the vet or shelter and have them scan him.

I would keep him apart from your dogs - you don't know if he has anything contagious.

Some pet stores will have a scanning device too. Just call around and see who has them.

I also agree with Teal..... you have no idea if the dog is up on his/her shots so you need to keep the dog away from yours.

Go to the vet or any clinic they can scan the dog.
Also I agree with Teal that keeping this dog under quarentine is your best bet to keep the rest of your dogs healthy. Even if your dogs are fully vaccinated they can still catch diseases

Also might want to call around to the local vets and shelters to see if anyone has reported him missing while you are calling around and looking for a scanner.
