Default It took less than two weeks...
... for me to piss off the 'Bleeding Hearts' on an all breed dog-Facebook type thing

Someone (who owns a yellow lab) posted a horribly done video about "Pitbulls" stating that it was a "beautiful video about our loving pibbles" - with a TON of spelling errors, "text talk", etc. and common myths like "If you raise me right, I'll never be aggressive" and "I'm shy and fearful because I was abused"

So, I spoke up. Of course! But, you'd be surprised how nice I was about it! After a short, polite explanation about how it's NOT "all in how you raise them" and that abuse only affects unstable dogs in a negative way temperamentally, it took only a few seconds for me to be called ignorant and told that I am against the breed... ohh really now? I am? News to me! But before I could see any further replies, I was banned from the site.

Gotta love ignorant people who think they are helping!

This is the second time I got into this discussion in 24 hours... it's just horribly annoying! And I can't help but say something, because I feel like silence is encouragement lol

It drives me crazy too the ignorance people spout about dogs. And I do find it hard to keep my mouth shut sometimes, but I do try to be nice, but some people just need a 2x4 upside their head.

I hate when people come up to me and thank me for saving those poor abused Greyhounds. Or ask did you rescue? No I didn't rescue, I ADOPTED! If I hadn't adopted them, someone else would have. They were NOT in any danger! Last week I found a Greyhound at a county kill shelter. Emailed the Greyhound group and within minutes, someone was on their way to go get her! Greyhounds have it good compared to other breeds!

We went to the First Friday event last Friday b/c it was for the Dogs. I get asked probably 50 times, what kinda dog is that.

Answer Dogo Argentino.
Is that a fancy way of saying Pit bull?
NO, it is a breed of dog that originated in Argentina to hunt wild boar.
Oh, looks like a big pit bull to me.
(in my head) well you are an idiot!

Ah, the pinkers... Gotta love 'em. They believe all the "it's all in how you raise them", "they were bred to be farm dogs", "they are the nanny dog" BS hype. They're taking over the educational aspect of the breed, and like a tsunami they can't be stopped. They're basing their beliefs on both the internet, and rescued shelter watered-down versions of the "pit bull-type" dogs. Both of which shouldn't be believed.

It's enough to make you want to shoot them all. But I don't have enough ammo....

It took you two weeks? Wow, you are slow!!

Ammo isn't the only issue, Dlester, you also don't have the time. I assume you have a job or a household to look after or both. No way you got time to hunt those idiots down and shoot them. Maybe look into weapons of mass destruction in the interest of efficiency.

Is that a pit bull?
No, he's a Dogo Argentino

Oh, are you sure it's not a pit bull?

Part of the beauty of their ignorance.. You don't have to hunt them down! They're easy to spot and every where. Like shooting fish in a barrel!

I remember saying "Omg! I want one! It looks just like a real big Pit Bull!" the first time I saw a Dogo. But at least I had the sense to look into the breed and know the difference rofl!

Why shoot the fish in the barrel when you can just simply take out the whole barrel at once?

When my brother got him, I was like "a what??" and then I saw him thinking he looked like a tall pit bull. It's funny too because none of the breeds that went into creating Dogos were pit bull type dogs. Yes they do look very similar, especially as puppies. Ironically enough, Carter is always mistaken for a pit bull, yet when Bentley is right next to him they always have to ask what he (Bentley) is.

Hey whatever works as long as it doesn't take a hell of a lot of effort.. I mean these chumps are by the thousands.

Your Dogo stories remind me of the time I was at the vet with Ruger and we were talking to a lady with a huge, gorgeous American Bulldog. A guy came in, took one look at the AB and told the lady, "Wow! That's one ripped pit!" then looked at Ruger and said, "Cute boxer puppy" Both us owners laughed, and told him what breeds our dogs were. Then the guy asked me if I was SURE, because Ruger was "so small". It shouldn't be anymore, but it is still astounding how stupid these people can be!

The shelter here actually adopted one out as a purebred "pit bull".
Damn that was a nice Dogo, he was gorgeous and super sweet. Everything you say they are. That was a couple years ago.
