I got one like this but by a different maker :

I really like the design because Ike is great at slipping harnesses and this design he can't slip. Plus, because the sides clip together and then the metal loops attach to the leash, if the clip fails the loops act as a backup to hold it on. I think I paid $15 for the XXL I bought Ike and less for the smaller ones I got for the others.
I like that one. I'm going to go to Petco and look at one. The reason I got Sasha a harness (she doesn't pull) but it seems after she has her collar on and its not tight, but she seems to have some brusing on the neck. Where the buckle sits. I don't know if that is putting too much pressure on her neck when she is leashed up. It happened the other night after she got excited of a squirrel and then a Skunk.

But I figure now that its starting to cool off, we are going to be doing longer walks and I just don't want to hurt her neck because she does get excited every now and then when she sees a critter and it takes a minute to get her attention back. That's the only time she pulls. But obviously it hurt her. I want a harness where I can leave her collar on with her tags and still have the harness on. You know what I mean.

ALSO: Again how does one measure chest size.

If I get the job today, I'm going to stop at Petco for a Harness on the way home. Obviously she won't be with me since I'm coming home from a job interview.

What measurements would I need to know, other than weight.

Brenda at Mighty Harnesses makes some nice walking harnesses, I've been meaning to order one. They're only $20 too, not bad.

Bentley is terrified of those clips. I'd love to get a cool harness. So I have this one: Sporn Non-Pulling Mesh Control Harness - Training - Collars, Harnesses & Leashes - PetSmart It was the only one I could find in the store that didn't have snaps.

Do you have a petsmart or petco? Hamilton brand harnesses are awesome and you can get them there they also have collars too. I got my hound Buster his for $20 at Petsmart in another town (we don't have one.) and it works great.

Why?
I have no idea. He's been like that since I got him. It's one of those things that makes him scream and hide in the corner with his tail between his legs shaking.. You would think I was beating him the way he acts. Only thing I can think is that someone snapped something on him before I got him and caught some of his skin.

do you really trust those clips?
I've looked at those harnesses quite a bit but I wouldn't dare put it on with plastic clips.. I'd prefer a buckle or metal clips like those..

Default Harness help! What am I doing wrong here?
Okay so I got Sasha a new harness today at the store. It was on sale and with the little bit of irritation on her neck from her collar I figured why not.

So I got this black harness that is supposed to fit dogs up to 56lbs. Sasha is only 28lbs or 30lbs at the most. It doesn't seem to fit. But considering its supposed to fit dogs up to 56lbs. So either the package misrepresents the product or I am a total idiot that doesn't know how to work a harness.

Here are some photos.

Here it is in the package:

Here it is out of the package. According to the directions the loop there on the picture goes over her head and the unhooked part hooks together on her side. The 0 ring is supposed to be on her chest.

So maybe I'm totally doing it wrong but here we go:

It won't reach around and I've made it all the way loose:

Here is just one of the dog!

So if I am doing it wrong, please let me know. If not I guess I will be taking it back. Obviously if I am not doing it wrong it means the package said wrong and I see why I got such a great deal. It won't fit a dog bigger than a poodle.

Thanks

After fiddling with it a bit, I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit.

By the way how do you measure a dogs chest size?

Maybe it is mismarked and has the wrong size in teh package.

Sometimes, the store might help you figure it out. I know PetSmart near me is good with things like that.

It was just a harness I got at the grocery store. Only reason I got it was it was on sale. They are normally 8 dollars I got it for $2 simply because they are getting new stock in. Figured we can always use another harness. Worst case scenario I go back and get the next size up. But seriously. 56lbs and my dog is no more than 30lbs. Something is wrong there.

It could be the chest size. Says it fits a 14 to 20 inch chest. I have no idea what size her chest is.

Yeah I loosened it all the way and it just doesn't fit. Too tight over the head and it just won't fit around her body. I'm going to return this one and try the next size up. Watch it will be too big. If it doesn't work I'll just donote the new one to the shelter and go get one at Petco or something. Where i can actually try it on her at the store.

Kamikaze: Thanks, we think she is great! HOwever she wasn't too happy with me at the time that photo was taken. She didn't enjoy all the harness adjusting
