Okay,.. so it wasn't just me then, because them two things just don't go together. Are you Breeding to keep your Rescue in business or Rescuing to keep your Kennel in business?

depends on what you are breeding. Have your dogs proven themselves in any form of competition? What health testing have you done? I know of plenty of people that compete with their dogs, have the occasional litter, and also help with rescue of their said breed, but, see, they are actually doing things to better the breed, they don't breed just to breed. Their dogs are all titled and health tested.

bubblz none of the above .. i rescue to save the breed i love to keep them from loser whom should not own this breed who abuse and destroy the best breed on earth and its a great thing to see a destroyed pit go to a loving home and be someones best friend and get their soul back ... and as for my kennel they are 2 Different things like i said am pursuing my career in breeding gaining more knowledge and doing what i love to do and that's Rescue and one day create my own bloodline of bully's it takes time if you dont wanna be some byb you need to establish a name so its not like i said i breed my rescues is this dumb down enough for and i work for a society here in Vancouver called hug A Bull and all the rescues are spayed & neutered so theirs no way in hell u could breed them ! lmfao!

Sorry but that is very hard to do both. Also the whole rescue=/=breeding thing? Are you serious!? Rescues are against breeding due to over populations of animals out there. Why would one bring more dogs into this world!? Makes no sense!
Also any reputable breeder would not think of bringing in a "unknown dog" of unknown heath into their kennel or home, let along many different ones. They would not risk putting the health of their dogs to those unknown risk.

I don't think it's impossible for someone to be a breeder and rescuer.

I think if one is out to be a Reputable Breeder, then they can easily do rescue work as well.

Now one can't be a BYB or Puppy Miller and be a Rescuer, but one can be a Reputable Breeder and Rescuer.

No one said anything about you breeding your rescues, since you obviously missed the point. You rescue now but also want to breed in the future. That in itself contributes to the reason why we need and have so many rescues in the first place.
What will happen to the puppies you breed and place in homes? Just because you rescue doesn't mean that all of those pups will come back to you if they're no longer wanted, or have to be given up for what ever reason. How do you know the people you sell these pups to aren't the "
losers whom should not own this breed who abuse and destroy the best breed on earth " ( < your words )that you think they are?

On top of that you're breeding in a country where bully breeds (death penalty for any pit bull (defined as medium sized, short haired, athletic/muscular dogs) not muzzled, penned, and leashed at all times, as well as any pit bull puppies) are banded in certain areas and some have stricter laws than we do.

Not to mention adding to the issues of this Rescue that you say you work for.

Damn,... That's Brilliant Good For You. Please !

I agree.

I breed, but I also rescue &/or assist in placing rescues. Some people just think anyone who breeds is a devil who can do no good.

REG, as long as you are breeding ethically & breeding responsibly, live your dream & keep on keeping on with the rescue efforts!

JMHO.

Happy 2011!

welcome back, and I do have a question for you...

When you end up breeding, are you willing to cull puppies that do not fit what your going for or are you going to try to place them in homes your rescues could have? I don't mean to be rude I am just really curious.

I also agree that a really good, ethical breeder can, and maybe even should, contribute time and or money to rescue of their breed, but a rescue person casually deciding to breed sounds counterintuitive at best.

So what happens if one day you go down to the shelter to pick up a "rescue dog" and it ends up being one of your puppies from 'your bloodline' ? You still going to feel its necessary to keep breeding?

Are you folks really suggesting thet NO breeder should or can do rescue work as well?

That's laughable.

As a matter of fact...a rather popular bumber sticker I noted at an AKC show read

"If you won't rescue...don't breed"

I think it's highly commendable that breeders also work in rescuing pets.

There is no reason why the two need be mutually exclusive, and to imply such is simply rediculous.

I'm assuming most people's negative responses are based on their (likely correct) assumption that the OP is, in fact, a byb and not an "ethical" breeder...but seriously...it's totally doable...and commendable...to rescue while breeding.
