Mainly its genetics. Head size and body structure won't change no matter what you try if its not meant for your dog.
You can try giving your dog plenty of exercise. Handwalking/treadmill, springpole, weight pulling(18 months & on should be fine). Feed quality food. Break an egg or two in its food every once in a while. |

It's a dog not an accessory. 8 months, skinny legs, and small head sound about right. Pit bulls are supposed to be conditioned, not buff. If you wanted a bully sounds like you're going to be disappointed. As far as having a healthy well conditioned dog, just keep her at a nice lean proper weight with good food and once she's 12 months old you can start doing more intense physical exercise like biking or running. For now just hand walks and play time in the yard should be fine. I'd be more worried about getting in all the proper socialization and training a puppy needs rather than worrying about her looks. ![]() |

Some people try to find shortcuts around good old hard work and whilst they are a semi-solution, a well worked dog should walk home in the end. There are different things which can be given to give a dog a lot of mouth or to replicate wind to a certain extent, or just increase strength. You really have to know what you are doing to use them or you are likely to just blow your dog's heart or something. They still can't beat quality conditioning and dogmanship.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's a puppy still. Let it be a puppy. At 8 months my APBT/Lab was still your average scrawny looking pup, she only started to 'fill out' at 9-10 months and is still doing so now. I've only just started taking her on one hour walks though, I never had her out longer then half an hour at a go. I'd rather have a healthy dog then a 'built' dog with joint problems.
For reference, my APBT/Lab at 11 and a half months. ![]() |

not sure why folks are reaming the original poster????
Regardless.... hand walk, run, chase ball etc... etc.... do them for a while, get yourself a mill if ya can but wait a few more months until you work em hard on it........ feed em good and healthy and the work will pay off and your pup will become more conditioned.... |
