This is great. Idiots out crossing Filas with stuff. MAn. As religiously purist as most true Fila folks are...man.

Those are two breeds that really, really don't need to be in the hands of the general public at all, let alone complete freaking idiots who think it's a good idea to mix and match human aggressive breeds to try to make a more human aggressive cross.

Good luck with that pup. I hope you are at least semi aware of the genetic natures of these two breeds (especially the fila) and are prepared to keep the dog away from all strangers at all times. Especially having been produced by a "breeder" who is clearly as ignorant as this.

There is no way her stock itself is any good. The decent breeders of these breeds would never allow them to go to someone like this. Be prepared for a mess.

If momma dog "didn't do too great last time" why did they breed her again? And did they just take the pups away assuming she wouldn't do good this time either? What's the deal?

---------- Post added at 07:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:47 AM ----------

Why would you cross the ultimate gaurd dog (fila) with other mastiffs to create better gaurd dogs? That's like crossing a pit bull with a bull terrier to make a better fighter. So stupid...

This is so very stupid and very upsetting. You are supporting the very thing we try to abolish in our breed of choice. Only in this case, the dogs produced are EXTREMELY dangerous if not properly kept.

And you may very well be capable of that proper keeping...but what about all these other fools who get one of these dogs? and breed them, and sell them to other idiots. Now we have a cycle of mixed bred monster mastiffs with no thought to balanced temperment or health. I'm so excited.

its a guard dog, not suppose to like strangers. if people live where they dont need them then good for them. and yes i have experience with this cross and with both breeds without them being crossed. i prefer fila crosses actually. very protective and thats what my family needs after some one stole a dog out of my own house. i didnt ask for inputs on crosses i asked for inputs on names.

I think we need pictures!!
I kind of suck at names, if I were you I'd wait until she matures a little more and see what she's like. Is there a certain theme you like when naming animals, certain area of interest or anything?
Personally I wouldn't own that cross but as long as you know what you're getting into best of luck raising her I've never had to bottle feed a puppy but I've fostered kittens that need it, haha no sleep is going to be worth it, just keep telling yourself that and you'll be fine.

we have decided on cera. the last time i had this cross she turned out fine until my neighbor poisened her and my english mastiff. we went with an italian name.
i only use my phone for internet now, but when they wake up ill take a pic and download it to photobucket.
the mom now only has 3 pups on her own shes raising out of the ten(i think she had ten). i dont mind hand raising puppies or any animal for that matter lol. i usually supplement feed large litters or take our partners pups if he has a first time mommy that isnt doing to well.

Aw I really like that name! Can't wait to see pics of her
I love handraising kittens (never tried with a puppy) but I love sleeping too At least moms taking care of three pups, was it to many for her to care for or was something else wrong?

i think she is just clumsy. cords were done nicely and everything. she kept stepping on them. and laying on them. mastiffs arent good moms. im glad at least they nursed 24 hrs and got the anti-bodies. i feed every 3 hrs though or else they barely eat. all puppies are different though.
hardest animal to hand feed so far has been rabbits lol

Giant breeds can't be left alone with young pups because they will step and lay on them, most breeders of giant breeds take off 6+ weeks and stay with the mom and pups and separate when they can't be there, this would be a much healthier idea for the pup all around. Seems pretty stupid to breed a bitch that wasn't a good mom the first time around, especially to create dangerous HA mutts.

well, if that was the case bout large breeds then, most people such as me last yr should have given birth at home.
once again guard dogs arent suppose to be friendly to everyone only family.

thanks i like it.

2-day old pups without a mom and you are worried about names...why not give the pups a mom and have someone stay with the bitch? If she can raise 3, why not more?
The tone of your post makes me believe you just want to hand raise a puppy for some kind of ego thing, not do what's best for the pup...

I sense all kinds of problems down the road with these great "guard dogs" in the hands of ....well....I'm gonna be polite...

people can think what they want. would i prefer these two pups to stay with their mom, yes. but glad that im able to help. helped him before with his full filas before even. but they didnt make it. that fila ripped open the pups stomach. judge all you want, the last pup i had like this was wonderful. never a complaint and no one broke into our house.

OK...I have been reading this thread and kind of confused. I don't know anything about filas, but I thought mastiffs were just big giant wonderful animals. Why is it so wrong to breed an agressive dog, I guess the fila since I have no idea what they are, with a breed that is known for being a wonderful gentle dog, although huge. That is what I would figure the mastif cross would be for. Just asking, so please no one jump down my throat...lol....

And good luck with the pup. I had a dog when I was a kid that had 10 pups and we had to bottle feed them too. It is very time consuming and alot of work.
