correct me if im wrong,but i thought snapping turtles were actually good pets. they describe them as having aggresive behavior,but everytime i try to pick up the ones we have here,they try to run from me..not bite me.

correct me if im wrong,but i thought snapping turtles were actually good pets. they describe them as having aggresive behavior,but everytime i try to pick up the ones we have here,they try to run from me..not bite me.
I believe there are different types each with difference aggression levels. I would never try to pick one up here especially if it was an Alligator Snapper

o ok,im thinking about the ones that start out like a inch wide,then grow to about 6 inches or so..timeto do some research

Yeah, those are NOT snapping turtles. Snappers are vile and won't hesitate to try to take your face off. I've had to deal with both common snappers and alligator snappers extensively, and I'll take the alligator snapper any day! You're likely thinking of red eared sliders or painted turtles.

Or possibly a simple soft-shelled turtle they can look similar to snappers.

ok i looked up a few common turtles as pets,and i think its a slider instead. i just remember my sister saying they were snapping turtles. the slider looks very similar to our turtles' markings

But softshells get humongous. She said the ones she's seen only get to about 6 inches.
