![]() Today she was after the kids waiting for the school bus out front of our house. I saw her coming and reached for the nearest thing available which was a fireplace poker. I wasn't trying to hit her, just scare her off. My neighbor came out screaming at me to "leave her poor dog alone. She was just a baby and wouldn't hurt anyone." Royally pissed me off!! Most of the neighborhood is scared of this dog. I'm afraid to let my kids play in their own yard, and I won't let them go to the playground since that's where she tends to run. I'm frustrated and don't know what to do! AC has been our several times, and only removed Holly once. Holly has also been sent away twice for "special training" whatever that means. AHHHH!! I think I'm gonna move!!! |

That's not normal behavior for a GSD. They're protective of their property & people, but for one to go outside of its territory to attack unprovoking children is way too aggressive.
We had one for 14 years and were careful to keep her on a leash in public or a privacy fenced yard with "No Trespassing" signs, so as not to cause concern in the 'hood. She was visually intimidating to those who didn't know her, but never displayed hostility unless a stranger threatened us. She saved my jogger husband from a wannabe mugger by scaring him off; even then, she didn't bite the guy. Maybe get together with the parents of the other injured children and call the police to file a complaint of some kind? Letting a menacing animal repeatedly run wild is negligent and dangerous. You all shouldn't be afraid to leave your homes because of an irresponsible owner, and certainly shouldn't be forced to contemplate the expense and inconvenience of moving because of one person's unwillingness to obey leash laws. |

I agree that it's not normal for a GSD. The dog hasn't been properly socialized, never walked, and is locked behind their fence all day with no stimulation. I honestly feel sorry for her. I've talked to the neighbors, and the police have been called. Nothing has been done. I want to strangle the owners! They moved next door about 2 yrs. ago, and according to the wife, they had to put down their Black Lab for biting another child. The boy who was bit in the face has scars, and the parents are battling it out in court. I don't understand why AC keeps returning the dog to them. So frustrating!!! Hate to say it, but the next time Holly enters my yard, I'm coming out swinging.

It's trying to maul kids, not bite and run away like a fearful dog. That thing needs to be DEAD with those owners in charge of it.. Sad situation all around, but I hope the dog gets killed and the owners sued within an inch of their life.. I HAVE an unsound GSD, and he has never, even laid teeth on someone because I have never given him the chance. That is pure BS that the owners are letting this happen.
---------- Post added at 04:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 PM ---------- you didnt kill the dog on the spot neighbor be dammed if that was my kid i would of killed that dog then and there your neighbor sounds like a stupid idiot |

I'm stunned and sputtering. How the hell have these people been allowed to own a dog? How the hell has AC not come and taken this dog permanently? Personally, I would go to the police and then the city council and complain that AC is failing their duty. The dog is a repeat offender with irresponsible owners who refuse or are unable to properly contain it.
If the city doesn't get off their asses I think I would have to kill the dog. Seriously. |

Wow I wonder why this dog has not been seized and terminated. Considering the dogs history. I know in our county biting well its not tolerated by any breed I think its you get one freebie bite here and that is it. Assuming the person bitten reports the bite that is. ![]() As an owner of 2 GSD,I can say that the behaviour of this GSD is not to standard and is in no way normal. The dog should be either PTS or properly contained on the owners premisis.(I reccommend the former rather than the latter) |

What is the law if the dog comes into my yard again, and has a little "accident?" Does it need to be going after one of my kids again, or just on my property? Probably different states with different laws.
This a.m. I went over to talk to the husband who I am sort of friendly with. He wasn't aware that the dog got out again because he works a lot. THEY JUST DON'T GET IT!! While he agrees that Holly is dangerous, they won't put her down. "Their kid's would be devestated." Blah, blah, blah. I told him that it's going to be more devestating if the dog kills a kid, or if his kids have to witness me beating their dog to death. I'm going to do what it takes to protect my family. Good idea on contacting the city council. Haven't thought of that. Gonna try it. |

I'd call animal control again as well and ask to speak to their #1 person in charge, their head honcho. I'd be asking them what does it take for a dangerous dog to be seized and euthanized, because obviously biting and attacking children does not constitute euthanasia in their eyes. Does the dog have to kill someone? or what.
Maybe also have some other neighbros call too, make it a really big deal so that someone will finally open their eyes. |
