Default now even my parents love mt APBT
hello all,me and my girlfriend just got back home from a three week vacation to mich. and iowa. We introduced our 6 month old pup to both sets of parents, and they all fell in love with him! My parents were a little more afraid of him at first but by the time we left i think they were more sad about him leaving than me. They couldnt believe how beautiful he is and how well behaved he is,now some of my family memners are looking into buying one for themselves.I told them all to check out this forum to get all the info and have their questions answered before they make a decision. Anyway the trip went great and aden (my puppy) has got to be the best road trip dog ever!! best of all was that my grandmother is totally scared of pitbulls and always swore that she would never be around one,i didnt tell her thats what he is when we got there but when we left she told me that he is a great little dog and she really liked him. Then she asked me "what kind of dog is he,id like to have one just like him".I said "well grandma,he's an american pitbull terrier",she couldnt what a great dog he is,it was awsome to see the look on her face.

My MIL was similar to your grandma. When she saw the picture of Harley (we had bought him but couldnt bring him home till he was neutered) she was very leary. She was one of the media fed "pit bulls are vicious monsters" kind of people. I could tell she wanted to tell us we couldnt have him (we are living with her right now). Fortunatly when she saw how pretty he was (his looks have actually made many people give him a chance, as weird as that is) she fell in love and she has since turned into one of his biggest fans. All she ever has to say about him is how good he is. She even makes excuses for his mouthing saying "its ok hes just playing" when I tell him no. (I thought she would be the type to thing "OMG hes attacking me!" lol she proved me wrong. lol

Its always nice when your dog gets compliments on how well behaved he is by people who dilike the breed. Its made me work harder at making sure my boy is a good role model for his breed. And hes done a great job at getting many people to think differently about the breed.

Great job representing... maybe your folks could check out the shelter or some rescues in their area to see what they can find? Sometimes, getting an adult dog is a great idea, because they are finished with the "puppy stage".

I loved introducing Lucy to my mom. Cause my mom's the type to not care about what breed the dog is, as long as it's a friendly dog. When I told her what Lucy was, she was rolling around on the floor with her saying "Aren't you vicious?".

I'm jealous! My dad will never love my dogs. He doesn't really have anything against their breeds, but he is a neat freak who is smell sensitive and just doesn't want a close realtionship to anything that may make the house smell or that will leave hair everywhere.

My FIL won't even meet my dogs. He thinks they are evil. I have no chance to change his mind.

When my mom met my pup for the first time, I walked into the house, and she looked at me and the pup and said "I'm not going to love her." They weren't fans of me getting a dog, let alone a "viscious pitbull."

4 hours of playing later (including a couple puppy accidents - it POURED that day and Rigby refuses to get her paws wet ), my mom was ALL over her, and admits now that she does love her grandpuppy.

My dad was hooked once the pup fell asleep on his feet, but my dad is a sucker like that.

All you have to do is meet one of these great dogs to fall in love.
