Our families don't know yet that we're getting one. When they find out, my folks will shake their heads at our hopeless stupidity and ask what kind of wood we want for our caskets. His family will email all their friends to pray for our safety and pile into the RV to come lecture us in person, but it's ok since we're way past 18 and totally immune to criticism. ;>

hopefully they will change their minds once they meet your pup. my entire family loves our dogs, aunts, uncles, cousins. Some had preconceived ideas too and both dogs dispelled them.

When my mom first found out about Rosie, she said she couldn't come to the farm, because she was a "pit bull".. Well, my parents were on vacation and I'd go down to their farm on my lunch break to let their dog out (I work 2 miles from the farm) I'd take Rosie with me because I work 9+ hours and won't crate a dog that long, so she was going to work with me every day.
Then my mom met Rosie.. that summer mom said it was too hot to take her to work with me and I should just drop her off at the farm on my way to work.
She spent every week day at the farm and had a blast!

Default I wish all people were this easy.........
to convince and educate.

My family.... all of them are dog people, any dog every dog, a dog is a dog, not a breed. However, the other night my mom came for dinner and we were sitting around the living room talking and Colten (14yr old son) started wrestling with Cricket.... hard, running around jumping barking, playing. We all start to watch because it is funny... mom looks at me and says "Don't you ever worry about her turning?" I said "Turning? Turning on what??" Moms says "You know on Colten, he is getting rough, won't she turn on him??" Soooooooooooo! I give the normal response. "Actually the breed was bred to fight dogs, they had to be extremely human friendly .... most attacks are mis identified "pit bulls" blah blah blah. Gave her the entire spiel.

She says "Really?? I had no idea! That is incredible! They are great dogs."

That's that......

Love it.

Most dog people, I mean real dog people, will be totally open to learning new things like that. I'm lucky a lot of my family is the same way, although there are a couple relatives that still think my fosters aren't trustworthy.
