Default Just when you start to brag on your dog, your dog will make you eat your words
I'm quickly learning to NEVER ever brag on your dog. The day you do is the day the dog will prove you wrong. I was bragging on Sasha to someone at work the yesterday that she is totally potty trained and has not had a pee pee accident in the house since she was 10 months old. (She will be 3 soon) I come home to find 2 pee pee accidents. She really made me eat my words.

I know the feeling. As soon as I bragged about how well behaved Pooh is and how he never chews anything other than his toys was when I lost two new pairs of (apparently delicious) shoes.

This is why I always lovingly tell my dogs what "bad dogs" they are.

I never claim my dogs are good. They're only good when they want to be.

That's like when I was telling the owner of one of Bransens' friends how well behaved and mature he is, he looked up at me and started rolling in a mud puddle.

Yup, I was walking Rocco and explaining to a skittish non-dog-person neighbor who stopped to talk how he's very friendly and gentle and loves everyone...when he jumped up and grabbed my hand with his mouth. The neighbor gasped and looked terrified, I said, he's inviting me to play...he's still a pup and is mouthy, but, he grabbed my very softly...neighbor hurried away. Maybe another vicious dog turns on owner story circulating as a result.

I know exactly what you mean... the other day, I was bragging on Bella because since we brought Cooper home, he's taken over her crate and she's been staying in the bedroom with the door shut. She's not had an accident in there for 2 months... and bam!! I think it was that night or the next, she pooped on the carpet..... but at least she peed in the bathroom where there isn't carpet. I don't know why she didn't just poop in there as well, but you can't reason with a dog. Lesson learned though... never brag on them.

I just got done telling my friend Padfoot has been less destructive lately....then last night, he tore up a nice bathroom rug, shredding it and eating some of it....I had to vacuum up the mess and then he just did it a few minutes ago AGAIN. Oh and just now, he ran into the bedroom carrying a bill he got off the kitchen table loL Thank goodness its almost lunch and nap time for him lOL

LMFAO!!!

cupcake has done the same. She's still a puppy.
we're trying to teach her that greeting us is not with her mouth. She grabs my arm or my shirt, hand...totally wonkers, excited.
Thankfully though, it's been in our home and she doesn't greet strangers this way, or anyone she knows outside of me and my husband that want to pet her. She'll lay her head low and roll over for everyone else...strangers she barks at and growls at raises her hackles...so I don't take her to the gas station because she'll bark at everyone else while I pump gas, slobbering all over my car windows.

haha....good one!

We had a friend over for dinner tonight. As we were telling him about Gus, and how great and well behaved his is, and that other then one accident the very first day we had him he's been completely housebroken, my son called from the other room.

"Mom! Gus just peed on the carpet!"

To add insult to injury, an hour later he called out "Mom! Gus just peed on the vacuum!" (Apparently Gus does not like my Dyson).

I'm still a bit confused on what prompted it. The only thing out of the ordinary was the friend being over for dinner.

Lol I've learned my lesson with saying nice stuff about eagle. Now when people ask how she's doing my reply is "bad, as always" I hate the 6months to 1 year stage they're just such doofballs. Like "tweens" lol

people say all the time at petsmart "your dog is so well behaved" I say "thank you" then a dog walks by and I don't let him go sniff it....enough said he goes BONKERS and I just have to say "Well he is part of the time" at least he is funny when he is trying desprately to get to a dog to sniff/play with it...he slides on the floor/whines/barks/whiners/looks at me/ jumps/ and sits in about a min, then starts over again >.< o and don't forget the play bow and the "wanna go" forward motion before he barks hehe at least he is not DA I keep telling myself (yea he could get that way but he is not now so I can say that )

I brag on how good Paddy is and 5 minutes later he blows it and I get mad as hell. Then he will turn around and do something really good that just melts my heart. Geez, its lose/lose sometimes with that little buttface.

Mine do the reverse. I went hiking with friends a few weekends ago. It was me and two dogs so one of my friends' husbands offered to walk Gidget. I said, "you'll be lucky if she bends down to drink water let alone get IN it!"
