hahahaha....oh man, i think karma will kick my ass for this one, but you decide.

so, some of you remember the problem i've been having with that elderly man that lives behind my house...yeah, the one that HATES simon and messes with him whenever he sees him outside. on my part, my training with simon has gone sooo well...you'd all be so proud...even with the new neighbors pit too. he's responding straight off to commands no question and ignoring the other party. problem is... this guy is dead set on either pissing me and simon off or potentially killing him. i'm not quite sure, but i know he's accomplishing at least one of those things. i always show respect to older people. that's how i was raised. but this guy....holy crap! he has constructed... i swear...some kind of trident looking spear thing out of a branch about 8 feet long. i try not to let simon out when the old dude is out, but this guy will literally wait allllll freakin' day...even in the rain, for me to let him out. i actually think he's sorta... you know... senile or something. but so i have to let simon go outside....he's a dog, for crying out loud. this jackass, charges the fence with his homemade "weapon" if you will screaming at my dog!!!! so, what do i do? go totally batshit on him. first i commanded simon inside, which he high-tailed it fast, b/c he knew i was pissed. and me... 5'3" went off on this guy. i know it's bad, b/c he's like in his 80's, but he's been at this for so long now and no civil conversation has worked with him. so, i'm screaming at him and telling him he better never even look at my dog again....blah blah... i called him "old man" (omg...my family would be so embarrassed). i told him i was sick of his sh*t and so forth. no, it gets worse.... my b/f comes home. same day.... later that evening. old dude does this a second time... except my b/f sees it this time. and his reaction... oh about 5 billion times worse. he actually told the old man he was a miserable person who liked picking on our dog and asked if he had a grandson he could send over so my b/f could kick his ass...LMAO..ok... that's not funny, but kind of... and then he said the worst thing... cause the man kept muttering things about simon being one of "those dogs".... so then my b/f said verbatim "you're just a mean old bastard who hates his life and hates everything around him and is gonna die soon." yeah, he said it. we're always SOOOO respectful of older people and my b/f more than me even... i mean his grandparents were his world. so... i guess really... does age count when you're defending your "babies." remember... the guy did make some kind of weapon to jab simon thru the fence.... okay... let me have it. i know i probably did real bad... along with mr. motormouth.

I'd be pissed as hell if someone was continuously messing with my dog, regardless of age.

Next time, catch the man's antics on video and file a police report. If this happens while your boyfriend is not home, claim you felt threatened by his stick wielding and feared for your safety. Not to mention he is trying to hit your dog with it...Maybe a verbal warning from cops will pressure him to knock it off.

I'd have a conversation with law enforcement. This guy is overdoing it (and I don't care if he is as old as Moses), and threatening you/your dog with an assault weapon.

This could get very dangerous, and he needs to be stopped.

Hell no! I was also brought up to respect my elders. My wife's granparents live with us. I am a PCA and take care of older people, and my wife is a nurse and we have both work in nursing homes. Let me tell you if someone, i don't care how old they are is doing that to my dog, I will do the same thing. Take some video with your phone and call the police before, God forbit, something happens to you or your dog.

I would have to agree age is nothing but a number when you threaten my family and that includes my dog

in most states if someone charges you property with a wepon you have every right to beat that ass

I know that in NC You can defend yourself when someone crosses the property line me I would do it with ether a 12gauge or 40cal variety

I did the same thing with the neighbors kids. They thought it was fun to throw sticks, rocks and whatever else they could get their grubby little hands on at my dogs. So I let their mom know, since the sound of me yelling at her kids brought her running, and man, I witnessed the ass beating of the decade. It was glorious.

I mean if a guy did that to my boy I would want to see him taken to an old folks home because he does not have the mental capacity to understand threats and could be dangerous to children.

Well it would be harder to do than if he was young but I know I would definitly tell the old fudger off good. Obed nailed it, he was likely mean as hell when he was a younger man.
I am fairly sure I would have to report him to the police as well, if for no other reason that to protect myself. What else is the old codger capable of???

well, obviously, i did leave out the extent of the yelling that me and my b/f gave him....with the choice words and such... but i'm glad i know that i was in the right. i too agree with Obed (i swear he has the perfect answer for everything

) this guy was an asshole probably his whole life. but my b/f told him that if he came near the fence again that we would call the police. i do believe the option of coming over the fence for an ass whooping was proposed....lmao! i'm so glad i'm not the only one who feels that way about my family... i've decided to keep my camera in the back just in case. oh and yes, i don't have a shotgun, but one of my friends offered to come sit on the porch with a high powered BB gun.....hehehe! but you are all right and i knew you would all give me your honest opinions. i knew it could be a bad situation and so forth, so i definitely wanted to bring you all in for the issue. thank you for that. i love my forum friends!!!!

btw, i took simon out today and he totally ignored the old man, the neighbor's pit and the other neighbor's basset...(he's gotten really good with this) you would all be sooo proud of how well he's gotten with commands and just ignoring distractions. he'd so much rather play with sadie or eat sticks that anything else. i just worked with him like we all talked about on another thread and he's doing beautifully. i'm so proud of my beautiful boy!

I second law enforcement/video.File it as a nuscance/harrassment type complaint with video of this guy doing this.Document it every time he does it. This guys an ass,and I agree with Obed,he didn't ''become'' one as he got older,he allways WAS one, he just hasn't been killed or maimed for his actions yet.(surprisingly enough) I respect my elders.I take WAAAAY more junk from an older person,than I would from a younger person BUT I draw the line after a certain point.That point would have been crossed long ago.

As for simon being ''one of those dogs'',well he is ''one of those guys''.You should tell this guy ''If Simon was viscious he'd have mauled your ass by now with all of the tormenting your is doing! Apperrantly Simon is much more well mannered than you are !''

i do think he's not all there... he's at that age where you can tell they don't have much longer... we've watched him decline physically and mentally since we've lived here. he really does need to be somewhere else... it's not a good position for him to put himself in.

you are soooo right.... now that i think about it... i remember he had a collie. that he was always yelling at. his dog used to lay by our fence all the time and was seemingly afraid of the old man. we actually brought that up in the conversation as well. how we never messed with his dog... and our dogs never messed with his dog... you're right....he's just an asshole, who probably just hates everyone and everything and has always been that way.
