I know it`s lame .I used the names that they gave to my dogs at the shelters. Both dogs had been there for many months and answered to those names.I figured it would be less confusing for them. I also tried talking to them in job site Spanish not knowing if that`s where they came from.I live in California.English is there first language with German being there second now.

You didn't give us your dogs name or how you made that choice.

I named Rocco after St. Roche ( Rocco in Italian); he's got a very interesting story. He's the catholic ' patron St. of dogs and according to his biography which he wrote at the end of his life while imprisoned, as a young orphan Roche had traveled to Pisa in Italy during the time of the Bubonic plauge to care for plauge victims, when he contracted the disease himself he was banished from the city. He was too ill to care for himself, and a dog brought him scraps of food each day, until the dogs master followed the dog to see where he was taking the food, found Roche, and brought him home and cared for him until he recovered.
I also think it's a cool name, if I didn't I'd have made another choice

When we went to pick out my pup, we were aiming for a boy to name Micah. Then we ended up with this little female buddle of joy so we had to think quick about a name. I'm a mythology nut and Athena was always my favorite goddess. Plus Athena was the goddess of wisdom and when I saw how my girl acted I could tell she was going to be a smart cookie.
Her middle name is Rose because she has pinkish (Rose) coloration around her mouth making her look like she always has rose colored lipstick on.

When I first got my pup he had chocolate brindle/stripes (Tigger) and one full white paw (white glove/Michael Jackson) Tigger Jackson

I hate when I tell people this and they think I'm paying some type of homage to MJ but this was before his death hence the date I started PBC

ok this is kinda silly I know...but ok here it goes, I want to be a police officer (I went to school for it and all...just no jobs atm it seems) and well I LOVE Law and Order CI...its not like its that accurate but its way more than CSI (I cant stand CSI, I will yell at the screen saying they are doing it wrong and throw stuff if I watch it lol) well anyhow I also LOVE Vincent D'Onofrio he is like one of my fav. actors (yea I donno I think he is cute as well as a good actor...did I say I have a weird taste in men...and a wide range of what is cute haha) well anyhow I did not like the name Vincent because I also like wrestling and then I would think of Mr. McMahon so that was out...and D'Onofrio would just be hard to say every time I had to call my puppy to me. Then we got to thinking and went to Goren because its his character on Law and Order CI's last name, not many people know it and its different but easy to say and just fits. I mean I love Jason Statham too but no names I thought of with that worked for him. Yep I am a weirdo and a big tv/movie buff so my next male dog will probably get another character name..

But Lola my newest pup was named by a friend at my fiance's work (he works at wal-mart) she had no name when we got her (Goren's original name was Toe...yea not very good for him hehe) we had to go buy her a small bag of crap dog food to transition her over to diamond puppy (she was on olroy puppy YUK...I still have part of the bag because I did not even let her finish it out, I transitioned in a week because I wanted her off it fast) Well she needed a collar and some toys and a lead too. Your not aloud to bring dogs into wal-mart as you all know...but one of his friends works in the garden center and so we went through the fence and had her hold Lola while we went to grab a collar to check ot see if it would fit and bowls and such, another associate friend was out there and we were talking about what to call her and she just came out with Lola and heck she looks like a Lola so we took the name, now the friend that was holding her named her new kitten Lola too haha.

My american staffordshire terrier mix is named Cooper, when we went to look for a dog at the shelters nearby we didn't have a name in mind. When I saw him, and again when we finally settled on taking him home I wanted to call him Brady, because he looked like a Brady to me, but my husband informed me that his cousin had just named her son Brady... we couldn't name the dog Brady too, well we could but the family would probably not appreciate it, so I "asked" the dog what he wanted to be called, and just started rambling off names... he looked the most interested in Cooper so that's what we called him. It's kind of silly, and he probably would have taken to whatever we wanted to call him but I like to think he picked his name lol

My old bulldog was named Tinkerbell
She seemed like a Tink to me. That's all there was to it...

My other was Mike Tyson, or Tyson. He came with the name, and his old owners named him that so they could say that he "bit like Mike Tyson" Which he didn't of course..

My Terrier mix name is Sasha. I actually had no idea what I was going to call her when I went to pick her up. I had been saving the name Sasha up for a Siberian Husky (My dream dog at the time). My husband suggested I call her Sasha on the way down there and I actually shot him down on that one. But we get there and I'm holding her and I slip and call her Sasha. She has been Sasha ever since.

When we picked up Lucy, her name was originally Asia, which I thought was a stupid name. The moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was a Lucy.

Then I got Ethel, and it clicked and went well together since we already had a Lucy. And I hadn't been able to think of any other good names for a Saint Bernard without being lame and calling her Bernice or Bernadette.

And the I Love Lucy reference makes them less scary to older people.

Sugar was the name she got at the shelter. We hated it.

It quickly evolved into Sugar-Booger, then Booger, then Sugar-Titties, then Tit. My Mom thinks it's awful that we call her Tit, but she doesn't seem to mind!

Well how i got my pup's name is sad but heartwarming, so about 4 months ago, my dog TEXAS TANK REST HER SOUL!! Got hit buy a car and passed away , i was devastated, couldn't eat sleep sick everyday couldn't go to work couldn't even leave the house actually because my dog wasn't their to Greet me with her smile! (she had this crazy smile as soon as i walked in the door) so i couldn't take another day without a dog without my soul (my pit's my life), my bf couldn't do thing to make me happy i was crying non stop for 3 straight dayz,in the 3 days after Texas passing he looked at me and said " Its going to take a Angel to save your heart hey baby" and i know that would be the only way to mend my broken heart was to get another pup right away.. so that day the 3 day after passing of Texas, I found my ANGEL !!!( her white chest markings even look like Angel wings very weird! ) and she has helped repair my broken heart !!! like the angel she is thanks baby girl!!!

Caesar~I was rattle off names when we got him and that was the one name that both Nate and I like
Jezebel~I love this name and wanted to name my little girl this when I had a child. But Nate vetod it and I named the dog it instead.

I was a pothead before smoking every day and dreaming and always talking about owning an American Pitbull. I was High and said to myself "One day I'll own a Pitbull naming it "ZIGGY" from Ziggy Marley(Bob Marleys son) take it hiking with me in the woods and Spark a blunt" and my dream came true. I spend more time with my dog than my Human friends lmao

I named Freedom when I rescued her from an abandoned house about two weeks following the tragedy of 9/11, the name came quickly and naturally, my own Patriotism helped the name come quickly as well.

Freeway was rescued from the side of a major highway eating garbage and whatnot from a lady who had named him. I thought the name was cool. I have a Freedom and a Freeway now.

Bodacious (American Bulldog) was named after the world's most dangerous or famous bull although Bodacious isn't living up to the legendary bull.

Dixie (American Bulldog) is just a cool name, IMO. and although she fools everybody into thinking she's some innocent dog she really is a wild child. My little rebel.... Don't let her fool you!

Gabriel, I named him after the Angel although he isn't no where near an angel, well maybe Lucifer would have been more fitting for him Lol Actually, my first instinct was too name him Gator which definitely would have been more fitting with his absolute love for swimming and he's really an excellent swimmer.

All my animals are named from things that are important to me.. Mythology was always big for me so I decided to go with Norse Mythology. She's named after a jötunn (a god). A trickster of one at that, it suits her. lol.

Bugsy was named after the infamous gangster Bugsy Moran, a Chicago prohibition gangster. Was known to be Al Capone's rival. Bugs Moran was also credited with the act of driving in close range of an enemy and spraying them with gunfire(AKA Drive-By)

His name is actually a play-on-words. His dad's name is Gangster so I named him after one!!!
