Default Love for dogs (and other animals) is it a learned behavior or is it genetic?
What do you think?

I ask this because well I thought it was an interesting concept.

For example:

I was raised in a home where a dog was just a pet. Where the dog was not treated the best and well my mom and stepdad weren't animal people. They kept a dog around because of me. If I hadn't been there they would not have had a dog. They just aren't animal people at all. My half sister (thier daughter), is just like my mom and stepdad. She just doesn't like animals.
My Dad who was not part of my life for many many years (by no fault of his own, but that is another story for another day) he did not raise me. Is a major dog and animal lover. He would do anything to help an animal in need, including giving it the meal he just bought or the shirt off his back. Whatever. He loves animals. Dogs, cats, horses, whatever. He relates to them almost better than people. I'm the exact same way. I'm more comfortable around animals than people.
Now my half brother and two half sisters that are his are all big animal lovers. (Now my brothers mom is too, but my sisters their mom isn't......my Dad has been married twice. Since his relationship with my mom. I think he is in this one for the long haul He has been married 16 years now, wow)

But the question I pose then is: Love for Animals: Is it learned or is it Genetic?

What are your thoughts.

That's a really interesting thought! Personally I think it's a little of both. For instance my parents are Semi animal lovers, however until I came along neither believed in inside dogs, having cats, or keeping the assortment of small animals I had growing up as pets. I of course had to change that

I'm the only one in my family (that I know of) that does. That may come from not being socialized right with people at a young age.
