Default Opinion questions
Today I had Athena outside getting a few pictures and a neighbor called out that we should of cropped her ears because she has bat ears which make her look bad. I always thought bat ears were ones that stood straight up. What do you all call bat ears and do you think Athena has them? Her ears do tend to go back and when your facing her head on it looks like she doesn't have any ears but that's just when she's being a goof. Either way I don't care, I love her ears the way they are, I just never thought they looked bad.
Based on the few body shots I got of her, what do you think of her body weight. I personally feel she needs to loose a few lbs but I just wanted some more opinions.
And great news is, her allergies are finally coming under control and she's getting her hair back!! In the pics you can see a few spots and her thin bum hair but compared to two months ago when she had no bum hair, spots all up her back and sides and top of her head, I think she looks great.

and her snotty look just for fun

I love her ears! They remind me of Wilson's. Bat ears to me are the ones that stick straight up, so I have no idea what those people were talking about.

I like her ears I am not a big fan of cropped ears. Ears add Character and expression
Weight is not bad in my opinion. She is not conditioned but at the same time she is not what I would call overweight.

Bah...

Your dog, if you think she looks good who cares what some random stranger or nosy neighbor thinks.

haha thanks, sometimes I think they have a mind of their own. They're always moving around and making her look crazy.

Yeah that's what I always though bat ears were, I just laughed when they said it because IMO they aren't bat like. OWell, thanks

Yeah, I'm not knocking on anyone who does crop, it's just not my cup of tea.
Thanks, I know she isn't anywhere near even semi conditioned, she has some leg issues and it's always been my fear to work her to much and cause major damage. I do think I'm going to try to run her more though and see how that does. As long as she doesn't look to plump I'm happy. I reallly don't like fat dogs and with her leg problems to much extra weight can cause more unneeded stress

Very True! I just didn't know if they were batty or not. I think they look kinda like little wings!

Thanks, I do think some dogs look good with cropped ears, some don't. I didn't think she would look good with the cropped so they stayed.

So those would be the "proper" terms. People have their own names for some of them, but unless you're going to be showing the dog it shouldn't matter as long as you like the way they look.

Now if they were causing infections or something then I might worry about it, but if it's just a matter of appearance what I think looks good you might think looks dumb and the other way round.

She's adorable. Lucy has the same ears. The nice thing about ears is, you know when they're up to trouble.

April, I love your wombat!

It looks like she has the standard rose ears. Her weight looks good for a puppy, I like mine a little heavier until 4-6 months depending on the pups structure(not fat, just thick). If a pup gets sick/parasite that extra weight can be a life saver since they can go downhill in such a short amount of time.

That's a really nice picture set up! I think her's would fall under rose ear. No she won't be showing and so far no issues have arrisen because of them so I am happy.

Thanks, that cuteness is the only thing that saves her sometimes!
Because of her leg problems and other health issues I haven't wanted to work her to much but now that she is stregthening up and getting healthier, she's going to be on a workout routine and getting into more stuff

Haha oh do they, when she's doing something she shouldn't her ears go back and she give the puppy gaze.

That's a really good point about them needing a little more weight. Plus I sort of look at it like baby fat.

Thanks, she just turned six months old. She's growing up so fast
