Looks like it might be a cute and energetic medium to large sized mixed breed dog.
Bullboxer? I take it one parent is a Boxer but what type of bully breed is the other parent? Pit Bull? American Bulldog? English Bulldog? Other? Kind of need to know if we are going to make guesses as to personality traits and things to look out for. |

The father is a "pit bull" the mother is a "boxer/pitbull". Who knows what they mean by "pitbull". They say the mother is very nice and well trained, the father is pretty timid but friendly. Im going tomorrow to meet the parents and the puppies, but I know as soon as I lay my eyes on that puppy I wont leave without him.

I wouldn't pay some fool money to be putting more pit bull mutts out there and don't go look at a puppy until you've done your research, every puppy is cute and very few people have the self control to say no once they've held one. If you want a pit puppy go hit a shelter or find a good breeder, not some byb adding to the problem, "accidental" my ass, what did they "accidently" leave their in heat mutt bitch outside unattended? With no papers, no idea of health/temperment/breeding behind these dogs you are in for a complete and total crapshoot, with a shy sire to boot I don't know why you would even consider taking a pup off this mess.

My thought is that they are going to be mutts. If you are wanting a purebred APBT for the show-ring, or agility, or some purpose that makes drive and stamina must-have traits then don't get a mutt. If you want a dog to hang out and be your buddy, by all means, get a mutt. Shelters have tons of bully-mutts, and apparently your neighbor's have some too. I wouldn't give this guy any money for the pup because as has been said, it's 50-50 at best that this really is an 'oops' litter. It's just as likely that they bred some bully-mutts so they could make a quick buck. If you want a mutt, and the Sire and Dam have good temperments, and energy levels that are in sync with what you want your pup to have, then go ahead and take the little guy home... if not, well, don't. Oh, I forgot, I was told my dog is 'boxer/pit'... but now I know that the guy who said this was her 3rd owner, hadn't seen the parents, and basically didn't know s#!t about the dog... she's cool, but I don't really see boxer in her. It doesn't matter though, she's just a bully-mutt with a good temperment and the right energy level for me. Edit to add: she's also got poor skeletal structure, and will likely be in pain later in life... sh!tty breeding is just that, s#!tty breeding. |

They are not charging for the puppies, which is why I actually believe it was an accidental litter. Im only looking for a companion, a dog to exercise with and keep me company so I have no interest in owning a pure bred. Mutts are all I have ever had, and I wouldnt have it any other way. Thanks for all the feed back! I included a picture of him in an attachment on the original post, were you able to see that? Im pretty new to this forum

He's a fine looking pup, and it's good to know that the pup is free. The only advice I can give now is to look over the Sire and Dam's conformation for major defects (bad hips, shoulders, etc) and trust your instincts when evaluating temperment and energy level. Good luck with your new dog, whether it's this one or a pound puppy.

Be warned that timid temperaments are very frequently inherited. If the pups are about 8 weeks old, I'd use the Volhard temperament test, and check them out. Looks are unimportant, compared to personality. |

I think Ivy is a boxer/pit-something-or-other mix.
She's a fantastic companion. Bold and very healthy, but of course those will be specific to the dog. Disregard the mutt-are-worthless crowd if you're looking for a household companion, but do look out for health conditions. As MJJean mentioned, my bully/boxer is very high on prey drive and stubborness; mid to high on drool. She is 55 pounds, but she was a shelter dog and we never saw the parents. |

I am also a bit skeptical when it comes to "timid" dogs/pups. I don't trust them unless I really know them because of fear biting. Not to mention anything that comes into my house better be durable or it won't work. I love my pets, but the house and neighborhood are loud with a ton of kids around and I don't baby anything.
When I went to the breeder of my AB and looked over the litter I had my son (then 7) stand in the middle of the room, jump up and down twice and then clap his hands. Any dogs that ran and hid were out of the running. Both parents were very friendly, calm and well trained. They were also curious and seemed to enjoy my kids very much. The breeder had a good relationship with the adults and the litter and that says a lot. When I got my APBT she was already an adult so I knew her health and temperament plus she had spent a lot of time with my AB and I knew they got along very well. The added bonus was that she was already housebroke, chewed only approved dog toys and just needed a little work on obedience. When I got my Basset Hound I specifically looked for the most food motivated ( so I would have a hope in hell of training) and "tough" pup of the litter. I took the one that was adventurous, curious, friendly and who showed the most confidence as I figure he would need all of the above to live in a house with a Pit Bull and an American Bulldog plus the kids. Thats just how I pick my pups, but it has worked out very well. So, did you take that pup or are you going to keep looking? |

I grew up with boxers. Good god. I hope you have a lot of energy and patience. And I recommend any males in your household to invest in a sturdy cup, or to just be prepared to protect their balls. They're called boxers for a reason, and those big paws WILL seek and destroy your manhood. The boxers I've been around are nice, very high energy dogs though. I also echo the feelings on timid dogs. Request to see both parents and observe and interact with them. |

Ha! my APBT does the same to my boyfriend. He punches him with his paw and also hits him with his tail, lol. ![]() |
