Default Going to try to get a dog out of animal control tomorrow
A rescue has to pull him for him and i've got to say i'm a little nervous of passing her test! I know i'm a great pet owner. Head and shoulders above most. But I feel like I'm going to be on such display and going to be judged, it's making me all jittery. The dog we are going to meet is a mutt, probably with some pit bull mixed in, but mostly mutt. My current dogs are a doberman and pit bull mix. I think if I had told her I had 2 goldens I could have just gone and gotten him from her, but now I have to take mine to meet him, and the drive is 2 hours one way.

So i'm probably way overthinking this, but should I not put a prong collar on Jilly (pit bull)when she meets him? Just in case this person disagrees with prong collars and thinks they are evil. I HAVE to put one on my doberman, Jack, as he is huge and I cannot handle him without it. I'll have to take the dogs one at a time to meet him. Dread it!

I really want this little guy. He's been in this shelter for way too long all ready and no one has stepped up for him.

Take deep breaths and relax. It will be okay. I'd say don't do the prong collar. A lot of recue people are against them. Obviously if you need it you need it but it could count against you.

If its meant to be its meant to be. But after a 2 hour car ride I'd take them someone to exercise before meeting this dog.

Good luck

Keep the prong in your car. You'll be able to asses the rescue person when you meet them. You never know it might be someone who rescues AND knows dogs(instead of furkids)
Good luck... I've done some major toning down to get a dog.

Keep us posted

Good luck and I hope it works out!

How is your dobe with other males? Isn't same sex agression very, very common with Dobermans? I'm not saying don't do it, but with how DA can show up in "pit bulls" at any point in their lives that may be worth thinking over ...
