Racer has a new dog mate

She is a 3 1/2 month old English pointer/Lab mix and was given to me by the people across the street from me

Racer had a clear view of her for the two weeks that the poor girl was tied to a picnic table and he was already aware of her so their introduction did not go badly
He definitely knew that she is female lol

They get along great and are running around the backyard chasing and playing like maniacs

Of course with the extremely warm weather here-we're mostly out at night and I am a night owl anyway

I am so glad to have a female for him to keep company with when I go and see my Mom in the nursing home

Racer was/is so very attached to me that he hated it when I left the house without him-which frankly was not very often
My bf used to take me to the store and walk Racer while I was in there

We have a car with no a/c so it is not possible to take him in the car when it is so damn hot

I just wanted to post my story about Racer and his new gf(who will be spayed shortly-lol) and let you all know how accepting that he is of this puppy

I did post pics and they are from 2 weeks ago when I first got her

She is all legs and is 26 pounds(weighed at the vets when she went for her last puppy shot and heart guard etc.) at 3 1/2 months

Racer is an angel with her even when she decides that she is going to "play boss"

She fit right in with the cats too and Racer is amazing with them
Now I just have to get a larger bed when she grows to adult size so that we can all fit into it at the same time lol

It is hard to believe but Racer will be 2 years old in a few months-don't know the exact date-guesstimating from the age he was when we got him-about 3 months old in Nov. 08

He is my baby and my companion and my protector
I could not ask for a better friend and now he has a canine friend and he is in doggie bliss

Congrats on your new addition. Persoanlly, I don't leave Ike and Rita loose alone together when I have to go out just because a fight could happen and no one would be here to break it up and take care of the dogs. They have never fought before, but just in case.
