Default May have found a good match for our girl and for us!!!
We are discussing possibly bringing in a really sweet boy. Ofcourse we have to go through a foster to adopt process first. Basically a 2 week trial situation. They try to match you with the best dog for your family and since we already have another dog, a Terrier at that. They want to make sure they are compatable before adopting to us. He is 1 1/2 year old pointer/Lab mix. He is beautiful. He is about the same size as Sasha. He is good with children and other dogs. He is already housebroken.
We are still discussing this but we are going to have to make a decision soon because I can see him getting swooped up pretty fast and he has been there for awhile.

I didn't think I'd be ready this soon but Trouble wouldn't want us to let a dog in need of a home to miss out on a good one just because he is gone.

He's not a pit bull but he seems like a really good match for our family.

Wish us luck!!!

Oh Isn't He!

He was recently returned to the shelter because the family had an invisible fence he kept getting out of. They felt they weren't a good home for him. I really liked him when I first saw him months ago.

Thanks Guys, I'm hopeful but things don't look to be going my way on this one.

Men!!! My husband now isn't too keen on the idea. He said he thought about it all day yesterday and he isn't ready for the potential financial aspect. I said excuse me? And reminded him that two dogs really isn't that expensive on a day to day basis. But he brought up Trouble and how sick he was and how we paid $400 plus dollars on him ever 3-6 months, to threat him and get him better. And in the end it didn't even matter. Keep in mind Trouble wasn't even 3 years old yet.
He doesn't want to take the risk of getting another sick dog. The chances of getting another dog as sick as Trouble, as young as Trouble are pretty slim I would think. The healiest dog we've ever had is a rescue, who actually came from the same rescue this dog is. The dogs aren't even in a shelter environment, all are in foster homes. From what I was told this dog is healthy. No guarentee ofcourse further down the road this dog won't get sick, just as no guarentee Sasha won't. But in my experience I've had a lot of luck healthwise with rescues. And we won't be going to a breeder for our next dog because he has lost all trust in breeders, he'd rather rescue from now on. Which I'm fine with some of the best dogs I've ever had were mutts from the rescue. But I can't fill out an adoption application without him being okay with it as well. He actually needs to say to me "Sounds great, lets adopt this dog" or something like that. Because all members of the household need to be in agreement about the adoption. I'm so scared this precious boy is going to get snatched up soon and I'm going to miss my chance. But right this second my hands are tied. All I can do is keep talking to him, and maybe sending him pictures. Ugh, this is so frustrating. I just feel its kind of meant to be. Before I wasn't in a position to adopt this dog and he got adopted and sent back and he doesn't have any behavior issues, but now I am in a position to give this dog a home who I fell in love with back several months ago and one member of the family has suddenly decided that they aren't sure. I feel its fate. But he doesn't see it that way, he fears about the What Ifs.
I know losing Trouble really affected him, but I see this as an opportunity to move on and I need this for several reasons plus I have the room and we can give him an awesome home. Sasha really needs this. She is adapting to being alone but not well at all. She has always been around other dogs her whole life and you can tell she is lost without other dogs. He was okay with it at first but now he is starting to have second thoughts.
I even brought up the fact we have to do a trial period so if it didn't work out or he didn't fit in, or him and Sasha didn't get along. Then we wouldn't be adopting him. I wish he would just agree to the trial period because I know at that point he would fall in love.

Men are so annoying. I thought I had dated every 'change your mind every 4 seconds' guy in the world but I guess I missed one lol. Which is of course not to say I can make a decision and stick with it.

Well, its NOT going to happen. I just talked to ther rescue and they don't want him in an apartment because they don't feel anyone in an apartment can give him sufficient exercise. I have a fricken Terrier for goodness sake. Exercise is what we do. 2 hours daily jogging. 4 miles every Saturday and Sunday. And 3 days a week supervised offleash playtime in a fence.

Oh well I guess there will be others to come along later on that will be more suited to live in an apartment. Whatever that means. They said we could come down this weekend and check out their other dogs more suited for apartment life (Code word for, small fru fru dog. No thanks, I'll wait. I've heard that before and that is always what it means)

I'm having a bad day anyway, should have seen this coming too.

I just don't get it They didn't have a problem adopting a Terrier mix to us who needs tons of exercise. But I guess its different when a dog has already been given back to them once. Where our dog came to live with us as a puppy and had not had multiple homes. This dog has had 2 homes already.

I'm not angry just very dissapointed because I really really liked this dog and really really want this dog.

Its funny I had called to inquire on him right after my husband calls and says "Lets do it" and the whole thing was moot anyway.

But I do hope he gets a good home and I am going to tell my friends about him that have houses with yards.

Ridiculous that this rescue has issues with the apartment since you exercise so much. Even more ridiculous that they are being so asinine when this dog has already been returned from two homes. You'd think they weren't in the business of finding dogs homes....

It wouldn't be any skin off their nose for them to give you a shot. Maybe a couple week visit to see if it would work out. Maybe talk to whoever manages the rescue about it? Prove your worth with persistence!
