don't think anyone's mentioned this yet:

in the first Transformers movie, the junkyard dogs that "attacked" him... one was a rottweiler, the other looked to be a shepherd mix.

Zombie dogs in I am Legend.
I'll admit it, I lost it when he had to kill Sam after she was bitten protecting him. She was way too much like Lily.

They had Dobes on the first two Resident Evil movies, but the third one had Malinois zombie dogs. Yes I'm a zombie movie freak.

Oh and the movie Quarrantine had a rabid Malinois too! That was a terrible movie, so cheesy!

A little useless fact about Cujo.
When the dog trainer was approached with the idea to make a movie from the book, he was very excited, going on about having the perfect rottweiler for the film. When he was told it MUST be a ST. Bernard, he was stunned. "I don't think I can make a St. Bernard act like that."

In the Lost Boys the bad dog was a white GSD and the good dog was a Malamute.

Default Name bad or evil dogs in movies
I was just thinking about this last night. We were watching the movie the collector and as soon as I saw the dog chain I said to my husband it's going to be a German Shepard. Sure enough I was right. Also in the animated movie UP. The bad dog (alpha) was a doberman. Resident Evil had dobermans. Even zombie dobermans. I think the Omen had dobermans also.

It seems that most evil dogs in movies are either GSD or dobermans.

Do you remember any movies that had a bad or evil dog. What movie and what type of dog was in it.

In homeward bound 2 the villain dogs were:

Ashcan: Boxer
Pete: Bullmastiff

In Oliver and Company the villian dogs were:
Rosco and Desoto: Doberman Pinschers

In Beverly Hills Chihuahua:
Diablo: Doberman Pinscher

Now in this movie the GSD was a good guy

In the movie UP:

Alpha: Doberman Pinscher
Beta: Rottweiler
Gamma: Bulldog

Though if you have seen the movie Beta and Gamma are just followers of Alpha. When Dug the hero dog of the movie a Golden Retriever puts Alpha in the "Cone of Shame" They switch sides and follow Dug.
Dug reminds me of my dog Sasha "You are my very best friend...Squirrel!"

I'll be honest I love Dobies so I hate that they are constantly portrayed as the bad dog or villian dog. But I guess being that they have that look, typically a Black dog, maybe that is why they use them.

Now here are some movies where breeds are shown in a more positive light:

Homeward Bound

Chance the American Bulldog

Shadow the Golden Retriever

Little Rascals

Petey: (original series) American Pit Bull Terrier (90s movie) American Bulldog

Bolt:

Bolt the Shepherd. Lets face it he was basically a white German Shepherd

I am Legend

Will Smiths Characters dog was a Loyal German Shepherd

Beethoven:

Beethoven the Saint Bernard (Cujo was a Saint Bernard as well but negative view of Saint Bernard, granted he had rabies)

Labs and Goldens are almost always protrayed as the good dog. And you have to think of OLD Yeller. Old Yeller was a good dog but in the end he got rabies and turned. So that one can go either way.

I got my daughter a stuffed talking toy of Dug from the Disney store and I showed my grandmother and mother the toy, this was 4 days before my daughter was born. And I let him say a few phrases and my grandmother started laughing and said "That IS Sasha". Which we had been telling her since we watched the movie. I think her and my grandfather rushed out to rent the movie that day. Dug kind of looks like her too, well a fatter version. But she has Dugs personality all the way.
