Default anyone else have a faker?
SO...yesterday indy fell down two step (not a bad fall at all) she did a lil yelp and wouldnt walk on it i called the vet to see if i should bring her in they said she is probably fine....so of course i babied her and carried her around for like 45 min til she jumped offa the sofa and started running around...well this morrning her clumsy butt slid down the steps and fell in the laundry basket that is on the landing and hopped out...i was like awwe the poor baby fell again and she really stood there (after i watched her hop out of the basket) and held her leg up and whimpered so i started laughing and picked her up and took her outside too potty and her leg was magically fine with the walk from the steps too outside

oh and i had too ad this pic...she like mom just stop with the camera already hahaha such an attitude look in this pic i love it

That's funny, it's always better to be safe and sorry but often I kind of think it's like when we stub our toes and hop around screaming for a second and then go about our business.

Pits are smart! They manipulate you once they figue out how to get attention and sympathy. The truly sad part is that we have to give it to them just in case it really is an injury!

None of my current dogs will baby it and drag it out, but one of ex's had a malamute that was the BIGGEST titty baby. I remember one time, when she was maybe 5 months old, I scooted her from in front of the slider with my foot (like, I literally just set my foot against her side and slid her over a few inches) so I could get out the door, and she started crying and fell over and then jumped up and walked around carrying one of her front legs, crying all the while, for like five minutes. I seriously thought I hurt her, and was freaking out.

After she was babied and coddled and had treats and baby talk, she jumped down and was right as rain.

My ex roommate had a Husky who was a faker. My roommate was giving him treats when he made his poop outside. After a month or so, this lil pup caught on and started to make poop position with no poop to get a treat.

As long as you're sure she's faking. A torn or pulled acl will make them yelp once when they do it then act normal while walking or running but they tend to hold the rear leg up while at rest.

I wish Lily was a faker. She doesn't care about any injury whatsoever. When she food bloated, she was acting like absolutely nothing was wrong, even though her stomach was like 3 sizes too big. When I got her to the e-vet she was so happy to see all the new people, you'd never know she was blown up like a rock hard balloon.
So I have to watch her uber carefully, because I know she won't tell me when something's wrong.

I can't say for sure what causes it, but for example, when we are petting Tess or if Notch "feels" we aren't paying enough attention to him, he will begin to limp, like to his water bowl or to the door. How do I know it's fake? As soon as you call him over, the limp magically disappears.

I do not have a faker for injuries but I have a one that fakes going potty for treats. Also I have a diva dog that in the winter she will shiver if she is put outside without her doggie parka. Silly dogs and how they know what to do to get what they want.

i have a faker, she does it for attention. She is a total drama queen.

Well about a year and a half ago we took Trouble and Sasha to the park. Little did we know it was going to be a really hot day, but I carried 3 bottles of water. Sasha drinks out of a water bottle, like a human. And there just happened to be a huge craft fair there that day. The one day we decided to go to the park. Well Trouble even with his health problems and it being hot. He was a real trouper just walking around taking in the sights. He didn't let the heat bother him. Sasha was fine too, until we got into a crowd full of people, then she just plopped down on the ground and laid there. Granted she had just had some water and we had only been out of the car ten minutes, she wasn't even panting until that very moment. And acted like she was dieing. And everyone was like "that poor puppy, why do you have her out in all this heat. She is probably really thirsty." And we were just getting all kinds of dirty looks and I couldn't get her to get back up, and she just had this look like "Make me". That was the only time she ever defied me. Then as soon as the crowd passed by, she was up tail wagging and ready to go. She didn't need to rest we had only been there at the park 10 minutes, but she is a little drama queen that knows how to get attention.
The thing is everyone was paying Trouble attention, and why not he was a cute little fluffy dog. And well Sasha, she is a dog dog and she isn't a go getter like Trouble was. Trouble would dance and do tricks to get peoples attention, Sasha would just stand there or sit there like a bump on a log. So when she saw that Trouble was getting all the attention and people were walking by not noticing her, she pulled her little stunt.

Its funny now that I look back on it, but at the time I was really aggravated with her.

thats is great! dog are so ridiculous at times but yet its soo funny.....indica isnt the only faker i have had...when i was little we had a big shiloh shepherd (not sure if yall are fimiliar with the breed if not google them they are beautiful) and he was the BIGGEST baby EVER if one of the other dogs were getting attention or if you ignored him he'd hold up his back leg and hop around in front of you crying it was absurd lol but sooo funny cause he was just this HUGE dog being such a puppy haha

I will say since then Sasha has learned more positive ways to get attention. And now that she is the only dog she seems to get more attention when we are out with her. But she wasn't even a year old yet back at the park. She was cute though, but major drama queen lol

We *thought* Gidget was a faker..............until we took her to the Vet. She had been carrying her rear leg after playing rough with Grimm. We didn't think anything of it as later that day, she was walking/running fine on it. A week or so later, she was doing the same thing.

When we took her to the Vet's, she had a slight ACL tear which produced off-and-on lameness (her carrying her leg.)

i did call the vet yesterday when she fell down the two steps and they said she was fine and all just probably over reacting and she didnt hold her leg up til i said "awwe poor bibby fell" like baby talk and then she held it so im pretty sure she is ok now if she does start too act funny and doing it alot ill for sure take her in and have them check her out and do x-rays but im sure shes just fine it was even really a fall it was her being clumsy and she slid on her belly down the two steps

I had a collie that did the exact same thing. He did this for years. None of my dogs to it now, but don't give Jake the idea.
