Default what do 1xW, 2xW mean?
Okay, I've been under the assumption that it meant number of fights won.. but upon searching, I came up with this:

1xW: when a dog wins 1 show
2(3,4,5)xW: when a dog wins 2,3,4,5 (respectively) shows
Ch- won at least 3 shows in a row
Gr Ch- won at least 5 shows in a row
ROM- produced X amount of champions and Gr CH. Dog is highly desirable b/c they can produce champions
1xGL-lost a show but lost game (assuming meant lost gamely)
BIS-won or lost, but awarded best in show title
GIS- gamest in show
http://pitbull.wordpress.com/2006/10/

so is he pussyfooting around the true definitions, or have I been mistaken all this time?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure 1xw means wins, I've mostly seen it on game dog peds, so I always assumed, but CHJ or someone else that knows peds will be able to answer your question

Depends on what kind of show you're talking about.

It's fights not shows. That's why you don't see it on more recent dogs.

A dog does not become a champion show dog by "winning" a show. They become champions for accumulating points. A dog can get points even if it doesn't win a show.

Interesting Q&A!

If you have bought a puppy with the intent of showing UKC, I would think you should already know these things; as you say though you are "here to learn" so that is great

well, as you can see from my choice of lines, they're not the sort that would be involved in fighting, or even game enough to be. I did THINK that's what it meant, but I hadn't ever seen it in writing. Then all I could find was the sugar coated version. lol, but I do enjoy being edu-ma-cated on my fave breed.

ha ha.. we put him on a mouse before.. he nipped it a few times.. we're thinking of doing it again, now that he's older. We had a min pin that used to just snap once at the back of their skull.. no more mousie!! Chansey and Zephyr both kill anything with fur or feathers that's not a cat.

Wait wait, the full OFFICIAL name is the the American Mouse Federation for Understanding, Care, Kindness, Education and Decency!

So you may want to watch your back, and hide that snake if you hear a knock at the door.

Just to add up information on R.O.M. Register of merit.

A male dog used to become eligible to be placed on the Sporting Dog Journal's R.O.M. list if he sired four or more fighting champions. The R.O.M. dog used be awarded one point for every fighting champion he sired and used receive one additional point if any of the offspring should go on to become a Grand Champion. The rules were the same for bitches to get on the Register of Merit list, except, a bitch needed only be the dam of three (3) fighting Champions to gain a spot on the list.

BIS - Normally only awarded on a winner.
GL - Lose game, there will be a courtesy scratch once a winner is declared to assess this.
Gr. Ch. won 5 fights in a row, but if after winning 5 fights, let's say the he lost on the 6th outing he will lost Gr. Ch. title and we only retain Ch. Title.. so the title will be Ch __ 5xW 1xL

There are however, several instances, in which the dogs can be awarded a GRCH without winning at every show in which he is entered:

A dog will not be penalized in the case of a draw:

If a handler fouls out and was later determined that the handler really didn't.

If it can be proven that the dog was a victim of some kind of unfairness.

Hope this helps.
