I'll pray that this young man does the right thing and tells the truth and even has the pups DNA tested.

If they can't get the neighbor's dog's DNA, then they'd need the Sire and Dam. So, if a set showed up that were neither the Sire or Dams, then it must be the neighbor's dogs.
hmmmm... I didn't think you needed the DNA on the dam, b/c you're just looking for the desired sire's DNA. b/c pups inherit DNA from both parents, if it didn't have DNA from the stud, then you would know it was from the neighbor's dog.

I've not dealt with doggie DNA tests.. but I though that the AKC DNA program only tests the sires and pups.. :/ I dunno. lol.

Not sure, either. I've never dealt with them either.

He may be avoiding you, or giving you the brush off, because he knows what he is doing is wrong, but doesn't want to be called on it.

Are the dogs/puppies registered?
If so you could contact the registry about the the puppies questionable heritage and the questions raised about the parentage.
Of course this could end your friendship with this young man...so it really a matter of how far you wanna go to prove your point.
I, personally, would just once more TRY to make it clear to HIM how important it is to make sure the puppies are sired by who he said they are and then leave it at that. If a few years if the puppies are bred and their offspring are bred and some weird things start popping up people will start asking questions and then you can say, "Told ya so!"

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

NCPBM: Yes, the dogs/pups are registered. I have have not gotten a response yet from my last mail. I've tried contacting him again through PM & his inbox is full.

I think it stinks that he isn't honest enough to do the right thing on his own. I would try to convince him to at least tell the others who got the pups

Yeah, I think it stinks too, big time. I didn't think he was this kind of guy. I would hope he has at least told them about the possible other sire. IDK if he has or hasn't.

Peace & blessings ...

Sadly, he kept her out on a chain during her entire cycle which is how the neighbor's blue male jumped his fence & bred her.

Blessings ...
If this is the case...there's no telling what other neighboring males may have gotten to her as well that he may not know about.

I understand that you are apparently somewhat close to this guy personaly, if you weren't, then you wouldn't be reacting with concern for his reputation.

But if this guy is irrisponsible enough to leave a gyp in season out where any dog could breed her, and then refuses to do DNA testing, for your own reputation...you should distance yourself from this guy.

You have done everything you can to get this dude to follow the right path. He KNOWS what he SHOULD do, he CHOOSES not to do the right thing.

From what you've disclosed, his reputation is already shot. You'd have to be an idiot to buy a dog from this guy.

If it won't result in some sort of violant altercation, I would report this to the registry that he used for the pups, and report it as well to the owners of the pup and the supposed sire.

Gatorpit: Thanks for the advice.

NCPBM: He is (or perhaps "was") my friend & no, he is not a member of this forum. He is the member of another forum though.

Peace & happiness ...
