have I already told you all how much I love this pup?
he is EVERYTHING I could have dreamed of. there is a fenced dogpark there, and I use that as an opportunity to work with my dog in highly stimulated areas (and especially those were there are lots of dogs, but mind you, I stay outside of the dogpark, with my dog leashed) so today, I went and worked with him. he did FABULOUS working with all the distractions around him! not that I didn't expect him to behave but not THAT well! usually I give him minutes to watch his enviroment and what is happening around him before starting to work on commands and focus, so he can relax a bit and not be all rilled up because on the other side of the fence there are 20+ dogs playing, running and chasing each other. after that, there was this little girl, 5 years old, that walked up to me and Shogun and asked me if she could say hi. of course, I accepted and she asked me: "if my mom doesn't mind, could I play a bit with your dog?" (it was absolutely THE cutest thing ever! she had those sparkles in her eyes while looking at my dog!) I told her that I didn't want to take off the leash, with all the other dogs playing on the other side of the fence, I simply told her "because I am training him to ignore them" when she asked why (no need to explain ALL that + how dangerous and ugly fence fights can get to a 5 year old imo..) so she asked if I could let him run and play with her of leash at the kids empty playground (that is totally fenced in, very similar to this one http://www.parmany.org/images/recrea...die-park-3.jpg but a bit bigger and with 2 other parts, way smaller though) so I agreed, and we went to ask her mom. she accepted and really, it was THE best thing I could have EVER done for him AND her! not only did she (unaware of it of course, but still) help him get used to strange surfaces but she tired him out SO badly he is STILL asleep! ![]() he went EVERYWHERE she asked him to go! climbed up some walls, went trough small tunnels, crossed without ANY hesitation a very wobbly bridge made out of 5-6 (with rather big spaces in between) planks and a seperate wooden plate underneath to keep kids from falling through as they cross ![]() he even went DOWN a high spiral formed, like a tunnel but that made 2 loops, slide for her! and tried running UP a metal slide! (I'm not quite sure it's called like that? this is what I'm talking about http://www.linternaute.com/acheter/d...o-toboggan.jpg) ![]() they had a blast! I'm upset that I didn't have my camera with me... we ended up staying for 3 hours walking, playing and talking with the girl and her mother lol I might have found the perfect dog to be competing in agility! I am SO proud of my pup! ![]() I just had to post this ![]() ![]() |
