We have this lady that always comes to my store and is very friendly. She mentioned before that her son has a few pit bulls. I was nice, I'm always up for dog stories.
Well, the son came with her today. He's about the biggest idiot, IMO, that there ever has been. Crude, vulgar...despicable. She says I have a pit bull. He asks me what color, I say chocolate with a white blaze. He responds with, "DOES HE GOT HIS BALLS?" I say, "yes..." "How much would you charge me to breed him? I got a black and white female that needs a stud!" "I don't breed...besides that, I couldn't give you an answer unless I met and liked your dog." "How big is he?" "I've got a picture. Here he is." "He's not very big...how much he way?" "55 lbs or so..." "OH, I don't mess with little dogs. I only breed big dogs. I'm up to 65 pounds right now!" "Well, he's not an Am Bully...so he's not very big. His parents weren't very big either." "How tall is he?" "Comes up to about my knee or so. He's not very tall, really." "So he's about 14 inches tall?" "Sure. Good luck with your yard." "Thanks. I'm gonna get into the expensive dogs now. $5,000. I WANT THEM BIG." "Yeah...those Am Bullies get pretty big. Have a nice day." Where I live, I guess the good yards and good, reputable and responsible breeds are in hiding. I've only met 1 person that bred that didn't make me want to choke them. Sorry for the rant. |

I love the enthusiasm...just wish it was better directed I guess. I have had people ask me if they could breed my female, and they always get an earful when they do. I know some people mean it as a compliment (she is pretty, has a great temperment, etc.), but I always launch off into the whole "do you know how many dogs in shelters need homes?" tirade. |

I was at the Pet Supplies Plus by my house with Ike last year getting some dog toys. This Lab owner goes on and on about how friendly her dog is and wants me to let Ike meet him. I do it figuring its good to let him meet other dogs that are friendly. He was about 4 months old at the time. Just after his last round of shots and after his first OB class, if I remember right. Anyways, her dog growls at him. I pull Ike away, wish her a nice day and go about my business.
Guess who was behind me in the checkout line? Her dog starts growling again and attacks Ike. Had Ikes head in his mouth. I get Ike out, Ike's standing there looking at this big dog like "Hey, WTH? That wasn't nice!". Luckily, he wasn't hurt and still loves other dogs to play with. The dog then growls at me. My hubby picks up Ike, goes out to the car and leaves me in line to pay for our stuff. I hear the woman talking to another Lab owner WHO WITNESSED THE WHOLE THING and saying how lovely her Lab is and what a great temperament he has and how she would love to breed him with this ladys female. The look on my face must have been priceless. I had to leave the store as I could feel my palm itching to slap the snot outta them both. |
