Why are chains "bad"? |

Voted no...No instead of chaining dogs we should just stick them in crates because that is much more comfortable for the poor dog tied to a tree with room to roam around. I crate my dog simply because I don't trust the people around me with him outside alone, but if I could, I would love to let him hang outside with space to move around.

We are losing
Do you think it should be illegal to chain or tether a dog outside? Choice Votes Percentage of 2928 Votes Yes 1831 63% No 1097 37% I do not chain my dogs because my yard is secure but I have had to chain dogs before and I think if chained properly it is fine. Doggydaddy properly chaining a dog is a good way to protect that dog and why do you say its bad no different than having that dog in a outside kennel and actually if you think about it its a lot more comfortable for that dog then being put in a crate inside the house (all of this is based on it being done correctly) |

I chain my dog outside because he can easily hop the 4' fence and will hurt another dog that comes by. The apbt is DA and I believe if you are going to have an apbt outside your yard, unless if you are absolutely sure it is secure, it would be irresponsible to not have a chain on him even if you have a 12 feet fence. These dogs have climbed up trees and can do so easily, especially on a chain link fence. They can also dig themselves out and will dig or climb if they see or smell another dog within their territory. This is just their nature, the lust for combat, the need to compete, and the will to dominate are traits ingrained within an apbt.
