Default Rescue picture opinions
Ok - so I am still trying to find a home for Foxy. I've had her since early December. Her jerk former owner was evicted - good riddance - and was going to drop her off at the local pound (instant death for anything that looks Pit-ish). In that time I have learned more about bully breeds, DA, vs HA, prey drive, dog parks, and even hog hunting than I thought possible. Maybe in another 5 years and I might actually get an APBT on purpose ;-) . The bottom line is if I could keep this dog I would but I live in a neighborhood of idiots who already don't like her. She got out once a couple years ago and grabbed a neighbor's Yorkie who lived but the rep is there now. I would still keep her but we have a suicidal senior Maltese here and a yummy cat :-). But I digress..... I have her listed (as Punkin - long story) on several rescue sites and they want me to use happy cutesie pictures. I've sent a couple but I also sent the attached headshot. I love that this pic shows off her color and her attitude. They don't like it because it makes her look "too serious". Well hell, she IS serious and I hate the silly red ball in the mouth pic. You can see it if interested on the West rescue thread here. It just isn't her. On the other hand, I want to get this girl adopted asap. The longer she is with me the longer she is NOT getting the home she deserves. So.. My question is.. what do you think of the picture?

Personally, I like the head shot. She is a good looking dog and it shows that.

I have the same issues, the pictures *I* like of my foster dogs generally don't make it onto the rescue's website; but the goofy, "cutesy" ones do.

I would be careful if the rescues listing her are trying to pass her off as something she isn't; I understand using cute pictures to lure folks in, as long as they are being honest about the dog's true colors.

Sadly, good homes for these dogs are few and far between. I have most of my fosters for at least 6 months, some going on 2 years.

She is seeing herself in a mirror for the first time :-) (as far as I know).

Tonka used to spend HOURS licking himself, play bowing, barking, and sneaking up on himself in the mirror!

I like the picture, I think they probably just know what will get her adopted. It sucks but it is the truth, people want cute dogs for the most part.

I like the picture. Nice looking dog.

I have the same issues with some of the rescues I foster for, they want cutesy photos and try to down play the dog.

I guess I'm too honest, probably why I still have my 3 fosters! Last application on Dexter wanted to take him to dog parks with their pit bull that goes all the time!
