Default a few questions Please help
please understand I am not up to date with all the terminology that people are using and am wondering. I grew up around pits/staffys and crosses we used them for catch dogs along with our different breeds of baydogs. We had some great Pits and staffy's we did not really us the cross breads ourselves other than one dog she was pit and american bulldog mix. but some of the people I grew up around did mix to get the better hunting dog (that woul dbe those peoples opinions) and understand these are oldtimers and the only line was thats a hogan dog or thats one of them phillip dogs that is how the line worked no papers but dogs that were bred with alot of pride and thought before the two would be paired. it was to get the best dog possible understand we used baydogs a catch dog maybe two and a knife to kill hogs. That gives you a little history on where I am coming from some of the things that I do not understand is the term bluenose? I had only knew of a rednose being different because of nose color is a blue nose just a black nosed dog?? also people have commented on my beautiful blue pit ( She is Staffordshire terrier but does not bother me ) she is not blue she is black with some white. I thought a blue pit was gray blue in color ??
I also see alot of pits advertised in my local paper as blue pits and these dogs are white ?? Now understand I am from the south and now live in AZ so I understand things may be a little different but.. I have figured out DA is dog agressive HA is human aggressive.. Please do not think I am stupid and should not own a dog I am just confused..My kids are very well taken care of also I no longer hunt hogs or anything for that matter.I am not against it just not interested in it anymore for personal reasons Thank you for your help and clarification

Blue nose and red nose are just colors of the nose and nothing more. BYBs use that term a lot to make them sound rare. It's not a breed of dog, just a color.

I understand its not a breed..so they do it to make the dogs appear more special. Krista thanks for the info
all the papers and all that mean nothing to me. My Abby was rescued they needed to get rid of her and the people had papers and if I paid for them I could have the papers she is already house broke so I do not need paper to put on the floor )) so I have this wonderful dog and they have rough toilet paper. I know to some that registration is important and that quality breeding is good for the breed but to dogs with papers do not mean great puppies it means puppies with papers

Dont feel alone in that boat hogar, it took me forever to figure out what GSD meant. There are still a few acronyms that I havent got yet but I just keep reading. I too was bewildered by the "blue" thing because as you know a blue Doberman does have that bluish-grey coat like you mentioned in your first post. My dog is also black/white and somebody commented on my "blue pit" one time, now i just realize they were probably just repeating something they had heard someone else say. Your story of how families had there own line of dogs was interesting also.

i'm in NZ and our hunters normally develop their own dogs as well because a good crossbreed seems to have it over any purebred dog here. We don't have blue nose dogs here and so far any blue pits we have will have amstaff or something crossed in to get the colour. Its simply because blue has been the popular colour in the US for a while. We have rednoses coming out our ears! Almost every dog you see around is a red nose. There are only the few hardcore guys who have some really good family lines who have decent black nosed dogs now.

Yeah, don't worry. I still just guess a lot as I'm not very familiar with computers so the abbreviations and such throw me off. I used be like "why the hell is everybody randomly hitting LMAO after they finish a sentence". I just rang my little sister and continue to do so and she explains what all those things mean.

fishinRod you are funny!
hogar welcome As Krista said blue nose/red nose are terms some people use when they are trying to sell a dog to make people think it is something worth spending a great deal of money on. Also there are people who really don't know any better and think that a red nose or blue nose is a bloodline or type of pit bull.

Well, red nose used to refer to Old Family Red Nose which is a bloodline... but then people started to think allv the red dogs or dogs with red noses were OFRN's, which isn t the case.
