Default Positive pitbull experiences
Let's gather the (rare) positive, hearwarming moments, comments, situations you experienced with or about our pitties:

I had a 4-year-old in the park stop by with his mom who asked if her kid could pet my female pitty and right after I said yes and had her sit, that little kid went straight to her and gave her a big, smoochy kiss and a hug

A man stopped me on the sidewalk - I got nervous, expecting something unpleasant - to congratulate me on the way my dogs behaved on leash, that he knew how much work that was - (we all know it takes much less than that with pitbulls)

And the best for me is that one of my ballet students, after I brought my female to the studio, decided to adopt one)))

for me, I had 4 maybe 8-11 year old girls walk up when I was walking Goren and love on him, I educated them about the breed, they are our future

another was when I was walking him and a lady stopped her car and said how nice he looked and how behaved he was (when she stopped and such I made him sit and he stayed sitting hehe) she was in the middle of the road but still was very nice, and no trafic was behind her.

another time was when I took him to the carnival and all the people were petting him and I was educating them about the breed too, from the carnies to the family of four hehe

then another time he had his backpack on and I was walking him and a guy complemented me again and said that they were misunderstood dogs

I do not get very many negative comments because I live in a small town in IL, IL has it in there constitution that there cannot be BSL so someone must be doing something right hehe but most people out here have hounds so they know about prey drive and the difference between DA and HA or at least they seem to

I went to B&B Pet Stop ummm i think....... last Sunday and this little boy, about 6 or 7 asked me if he could pet Cleo and when i said yeah he gave her a huge hug! In return Cleo gave him huge kisses, of course lol His mom complimented me on how beautiful and sweet she was to be a pitty. I was so happy his mom let him pet her! Usually they pick their kids up and haul ass!

The first month I had Lily we walked past a birthday party (over a dozen kids and parents). It was great for them to see her as a cute little puppy (seeing as they will be my neighbors for a while). It was nice for me to inform them of the facts, the kids didn't want me to leave! Now whenever someone walks by my fence they always say hi to Lily, their faces light up. I mean, granted, she's adorable, but I think they love her more because they know what she really is- she's not a man eater, she's a dog that deserves our respect. Since I've owned her I have had NO negative responses in my neighborhood, and that give me hope for the future.

Odie has a friend at the park who owns cats and everytime someone walks by us wide she just shakes her head. She knows I try very hard with Odie to keep him behaving and she is one of his big supporters.

For Rambo my APBT mix we were at PetSmart and there was an Adopathon going on and they 4 little brindle pups. I wanted to play with them so i gave the leash to my boyfriend but before i knew Rambo was right next to me laying down and letting the puppies crawl all over him. The workers couldn't believe how sweet he was for a pittie mix to let them chew and bite on him without any reaction.

For My American Bulldog Diesel, it is just whenever we have him out, the kids in my neighborhood come running over to play and cuddle with him.

It makes me proud to know that i have two bully breeds that everyone loves

One of my favorite moments with my dog started off as my all time WORST moment ever. It was my sister's birthday so pretty much my whole family was around, and my jackass uncle decided it was his place to tell me he was going to shoot my dog because he knows how these dogs really are. It blew up into a huge situation. Nobody is going to come to my house and threaten to shoot my dog without a serious fight. Anyways...after I chased him off, my grandmother proceeded to enlighten me on the evils of the breed and why I can't handle a pit bull. The only way I could even think to resolve the situation was make everyone shut the hell up and sit down. I brought socrates in, lifted him up, and put him on my grandmother's lap. He rolled onto his back and licked her face for a good two minutes. I called him to me, had him sit, lay down, and stay and she was amazed at how obedient he was. She actually started welling up because she felt so bad that she perpetuated the myths about this amazing breed. Now every time she sees him she bends down and says "HI SWEETIE PIE!"

I have two...

The second day we had our girl Indigo, we had just been sheltering her while we tried to find her owners, her nipples were enlarged so we had her inside uncertain about her heat cycle with her 8 month pup who she had been found with outside in our yard.

My husband is insanely afraid of stereotyped dogs, so he only would let her in if she was locked in a basement room. Which, since we have two kids and it was an unknown dog it seemed like an appropriate security measure. Well I was doing homework and my husband "wandered off." Who knows what men do on weekends

Low and behold I go downstairs to change the laundry and there my husband is laying on the floor of the basement and she is laying next to him kissing his face! He said he came downstairs to get a book and she was whimpering. How sweet, from then on she has been part of our family.

Her pup was adopted by a good friend. A few weeks ago he took him for a walk to the pet store through a park. He was in the park and was stopped by a woman who was supervising a small "at-home" daycare of kids on the playground. She asked him how old the pup was and offered some training tips for leash training. Then out of the blue she had the pup sit and said.."Well it is obvious that he is learning and needs more socialization." She called 8 five-year-olds over to meet him. Thank goodness that there are some people out there who aren't afraid of pits. The puppy did great, and so did the kids.
