So my pup is sleeping in her crate them I hear making funny sounds almost like she is barking, its hard to describe but some of the sounds are odd. I know its not a seizure, I've had a dog that had those every 3.5 weeks roughly and its totally not the same. Now if I call her name or if I make a sound where she hears me she wakes right up. Just wondering if anyone else heard their dog make weird sounds while they sleep.

Yes, our dogs dream. The youngest is funny to watch. All four of her paws get to moving as if she's running or chasing something and her nose twitches and low little barks…so cute. Our older dog that we adopted and had been rescued from an abusive situation appears to occasionally have a nightmare. I say that because she is generally a quite, rarely barks, kind of dog yet she'll bark and growl aggressively in her dreams and her body makes jerky movements. I don't know much about her past other than she was clearly physically abused. It saddens me to think she is reliving painful memories, so I wake her with a calm voice as soon as I notice this happening.
