Here's Sweetie just turned a year old. Last weight 60lbs. She's tall. She freaked out on the tape measure so I'm not sure but around 20" I'd say. Only lately have I noticed muscle definition. Her coat/skin is pretty thick but I had been free feeding till she turned a year old so we’ll see what happens now on scheduled/measured feedings. I have noticed her little hams are getting thicker and her chest seems to be developing lately. It's my understanding that they continue to develop till around 2 years so it will be a while before I know what her adult features will be…

Sweetie's a cutie!

I was just checking out the difference in my dogs coats as well. Scarling and CoCo have a really short, tight coat, where Arez and Nyx has/had quite thick coats, so no doubt that makes a difference on how they look weight wise. It's just harder tell on Arez and Nyx where Scarling and CoCo you can see all the detail! lol

Can you post a side picture of him more down that over top of him? Looks as if he could lose 5-10lbs. Make a flirt pole, it does wonders

Ahh I see. Taz is quite a bit shorter then most of the pit bulls here, I think thats why he doesn't look as "in shape" as your dogs. Thanks for the help! I think I'm gonna take him down a lot more, his pic is in my signature, what do you guys think?
What is Taz's height? This dog was around 35 pounds and 17 inches high.
I never thought she was small as she was the same size as any other APBT I knew.

I'm guessing Bella is a fattie, at 67 lbs and about one year old, but I don't know what she's mixed with. I'll try to snap a few profile shots of her. We all know Mollie is a little porker.. so I won't bother with her profile shots..

Mid 30's is a good dog. Anything bigger than that is big for me.

Hello everyone. =)

Taz now weighs 56 pounds. I was wondering if anyone who has an APBT that is in between 55 and 60 pounds, could post some pictures of their dog, and state their stats.

Taz doesn't look like most apbt's do at 56 pounds, so I'm wondering if I should leave him at this weight or take off some more. Thanks in advance.
Many of us have dogs around that as the average APBT bred to look like what the standard calls for will be 30-60 lbs give or a little and 17-19'' tall again give or take a little. The proportions are what is more so important. So I wouldn't say that 56 lbs is small by any means. It is actually toward the higher end of average.

If that is your cutie in your signature, I'd say he is chubby at that weight and should probably weigh a little less to be in better overall health. Don't focus so much on the actual # but what the dog looks like to see what the proper weight should be for him.

I wouldn't be judging him up against other dogs so much to determine a good weight as there are just so many difference in build styles. Some dogs are heavier boned than others which can make a difference in weight and such... I agree

Here is a picture from the summer of our adorable Lugz. He was probably about 55 pounds then. He has currently become more of a chunky monkey; because we (he and I have not exercised as much as we should) and he is now about 60 lbs.

Taz is 56 pounds and only 18 inches tall. From chest to rear hes about 20 inches long. Hes pretty small so I guess thats why he doesn't look as good at that weight. I'll post some pics soon, thanks for all of your help!

I wouldn't say the 56 would count as small.

I don't know my boys exactly weights, but I think they are between there. I'll try to get some pictures in a little bit.
What kind of stats (heights?)?

Yeah heights. Well its not the weight, I just thought he would look slimmer at that weight, so I figure hes smaller then I thought.

No 56 isnt small by any means but it is a good size if they are trimmed up in the gut.

My foster is around 18" (can't get her to stand still for an accurate measurement) and was 55lbs last weight, she is around 1 yr old.

Here is a recent pic:

I think the thing is, not all of them are built alike. I've had seven different females that are all 55 to 65 pounds and they all look totally different. I find with say Arez.. she's kinda got thicker skin even when she's lean so it's harder to see any definition, even though she is solid as hell. Where Scarling has much thinner skin so you can see every vein and she looks super cut. They are both as solid. Scarling just shows it better. I remember this girl came out to visit who had only seen pictures of my dogs and she was shocked when she actually got to touch Arez. She said she thought she was just kinda a ''soft, couch potato'' dog going from the pictures, and couldn't believe how solid she was, and not fat, just hard muscle. Can you FEEL his ribs?

This is Arez at 65 pounds. She doesn't look like much, but if you actually felt her, rock hard! lol

Here's Scarling at 55 pounds. She shows her muscle alot better than Arez....

Deeohgee at 60 pounds..

This is Deeohgee at about a year old {she's about five in the first pic}. She was in better shape because she's since an an ACL tear and I don't work her that hard now. She was probably around 55 here as she's not really done filling out..

Nyx at 65 pounds.. she's another thick skinned girl, as she's related to Arez. No matter how hard I worked this girl, she never got any more defined than this...

Other Venus was about 50 pounds..

Sadie was another 55 pounder...

Mind you.. I don't ''condition'' my dogs. We just ''play''. lol
