First of all, you shouldnt have a dog that isnt registered, and no vaccinations. Take her to the vet and get her shots, get registered, get her microchipped in your name then get her neutered.
What's wrong with having a dog that isn't registered?BTW,if she's not already registered,it's not likely she'll be able to unless the parents were registered and the breeder gives her the proper information.

I think maybe amyhatcher meant ''licenced'' more than "registered", as in with the city, not a kennel club.

Its law here to register dogs with the council and they periodically have "stings" going house to house and taking unregistered dogs.

From what I read it didn't immediately strike me that he actually wanted to keep the dogs or to even end up with a bunch of pups from this dog. It may just be the way its worded. I know a lot of people seem to think they are doing some great public service by arranging males to breed with, even if the owner has no intention of breeding the bitch.

Why isnt your dog liscenced with the city and vaccinated by a vet? That alone should be proof of ownership. If he wants to 'steal' her to breed, then SPAY her. Then he will loose interest in her.Take pictures of her for id purposes(maybe with you in them or your home in them),spay her, microchip her or tattoo her,get her vaccinated and liscenced, keep her inside your home-unless fully supervised, and you should be fine.

The main thing I can't figure out is you say "rescued" How did the rescue go?What convinced the guy to give you the dog?Did he have to or did he want to?If he gave you the dog willingly, then I'd consider it your dog,if the dog's not chipped not much he can do.If some higher authority(police,AC,HSUS etc) forced the rescue, then I could see where he might not like it.If you took it upon yourself and took it,then it's theft.
What i mean by rescued Jewelz, is her so called owner left her at another persons house whom my fiance knows. I stopped by there one night and i saw her chained in the back yard, skinny as can be, dirty, smelly, no food, no water, same bag of empty dog food sat at that house for a week. As sad as she was and the condition she was in, she was the sweetest thing i had ever seen! I fell in love with her. I finally put my foot down, and told him to take care of her, to stop neglecting her. He claimed she eat 5 times a day, 3x as much as the boy did. So i gave it another day or two and still the SAME bag of dog food was left empty. So i brought over a hot dog from Wienerschnitzel and i doubt she even tasted it. I really knew then she wasn't eating. So finally I spoke with him again and this time he said he wanted money for her. He wouldn't give me a price. My fiance then stepped in and told him he'd give him a $200 tattoo for her. Fair enough. Traded. and done with.

This is the first dog i have owned in this state. So im still trying to figure out everything that is necessary by the state and or county.

i'm sorry you are going through this stupid shit, hon.
i agree with the others, please take her to the vet and get her SPAYED ASAP!!
It is extremely stupid. and sounds even more stupid. But sadly the people in this area... are well... lets not even go there, but you get the idea.

I would find the original so called owner of this dog. Get straight why he/she left the dog. They may have some proof of ownership and somewhere down the road they may try to get the dog back.
It is great that you "rescued" the dog if it wasn't being properly cared for but before you invest feelings, time and money I would get to the bottom of who owns this dog.

Bring her to the vet and have her spayed, UTD on shots and microchipped in your name. Get a city license for her. Also take several pictures of her for ID use. Then she can't be bred and you have proof she is yours. Simple as that.
I'd say that about sums things up.

Shes starting to go into heat right now, thats why im so worried. im already lined up to have her spayed
Keep her inside, make sure all your doors and windows are locked, and never let her go outside to potty without you being on the other end of the leash. If at all possible, only take her out back, out of view from the road. Be sure the next time you see him, that you tell him she's already spayed... even if she isn't yet. It's almost impossible to tell if a female has been spayed if the vet did a good job on stitches. I can't even see Bella's scar where she was spayed. GoingPostal's advice is pretty much on the money, and the best thing you can do for you, and your dog.

He gave her to me with no papers. Hes not even the original owner of her. And i have no idea who that guy is. I have a vet, but shes a friend so im not registered at a clinic or anything. But if that would consider her mine then ill take her in for a "check up" down the road just in case.

Thanks!
Get the dog spayed and micro chipped with your information on the chip.

[quote=ColbyDogs;557260]Not to go OT, nothing wrong with inbred dogs when done properly. That is how you preserve certain traits. All my dogs are inbred and not a single thing wrong with any of them.[/quote

Nor with mine. Get her spayed and call the cops on the guy if he starts harrassing you.

Default Can I stop them?
The guy who I rescued Jewelz from, caught me on the road yesterday while I was walking Jewelz and commented on "how shes looking good and almost ready"... He begins to brag about how hes getting "two blue nose pit bulls" to breed them (from the same litter). And he has a male ready for Jewelz. and said hes gonna come by and take her whenever she goes into heat. THIS IS MY DOG, how can someone say such garbage like this? Someone who left her to starve and kicked her around, etc.
First off my main concern is, What if he does try to fight with me about who she belongs to? I have no paperwork stating shes mine, i dont even think shes registered, and thats the least of my concerns. But what if he says "i stole her" is there anything i can do to prove she is mine in the event that this does occur? Because i feel it is really escalating to this point
Second, is there a way to prevent them from BYB? I explained to him the risks and the expense and they fail to realize anything, because they think they are going to gain a TON of money from it. Can animal control be contacted? Is there a license you must have in order to breed? I don't know anything about the facts of breeding because it is not anything i really care for.

Sorry to make it so long but im really fustrated with these people!!

Well it depends how you got the dog. If you just took it from his garden,no matter what state it was in, I imagine it would be theft. If he gave you the dog but with no papers then there are a few things you can do. If you have been to the vet already they will consider the dog yours so you can go back and have the dog microchipped and it is then legally in your name.

You don't need a license/title to breed, at least not here. I imagine it is the same over there.

Well, you got her from a byb. He obviously didn't know you were "rescuing" her. Did you pay him? I don't know that cops would put much stock into something that can't be proven. Tell him he is not picking your dog up, get your dog spayed, and watch her when she is out, and don't leave her unsupervised so she can't get stolen.

What do you mean you ''rescued'' the dog from him? Easy solution... go get your girl spayed. Voila! He'll have no further interest in her. As far as what you can do about him breeding.... nothing.

im so sorry to hear this..you dont have paperwork stating shes yours, but does he have any stating shes his? itd be your word against his. and inbreeding omg how sad. he doesnt sound like the type to get law inforcement into it seeing how he plans on steeling her, if you think hes going to take it to that point contact someone before he does. dont let him do that to your dog, or those 2 other blues. its not right.

Yeah, I'd say spaying her would pretty much halt that problem.
