It's hard to read the articles on fighting, so I'm just going to ask...out of curiosity....

were fighting dogs trained to fight? I know they were conditioned, but did the dogmen teach the dog certain techniques and holds or was the idea to just get a game dog in tip-top physical condition and let them go about the fight however they wanted?

For example, would the human be shouting commands to the dog to do specific things, and would the dog then do it? If the owner said...for example...go for the left leg...is that what the dog would do?
