yeah that is annoying and unfortunately way too common not only on forums but in general conversations as well.

I know. I saw a few comments along the lines of "It's how you raise them..."

I find it kind of funny that owners of other breeds considered to be "vicious" and have a reputation for biting humans continue to bash and harass the owners of other breeds suffering similar biased stereotypes.

Exactly! I do turn that on them often... People call your dog's vicious human biters, going to turn on you, and all kind of crazy myths -their brains continue growing and their skull stops, making them insane.. when they mature at 5, they turn aggressive- that you know are false, but you will believe it about other breeds...?

But I'm serious, I would rather hear someone talk about how they don't like the breed, don't trust it ect. than an owner who brings theirs to the DP because she wasn't raised to be DA.

what really bothers me is the sterotypes they have for bulldog owners, "I suggested to the P.B.'s (highly tattooed) owner" "It seems like the dog park people with pit bulls, that I've run into, have a dog that they hope will mimic their attitude - surly, nasty, etc." I agree pitulls should not be taken to dog parks, but umm iam not a nasty rude person, i dont have tattoos, and i dont want to look tough. Im 24 years old, a very girly girl, and friendly. don treally remember what my point is but yeah....

I mentioned the CGC thing too, but just to point out my DP doesn't even ask for one, only vet records. My little bitch could get a GCG, but I guarantee if I dropped her at a DP there would be a great dane smeared from one end to the other.

And the people saying they've never seen a fight or scuffle at the DP must not be there much. I sit outside of the DP, working on my dog's DA, and watch the mayhem... I see many scuffles and at least one very bad fight, which I wrote about here.

You know while I agree with you guys that they go about it the wrong way. I am also a member of that forum. All the people there love Red and love to read about Red. Many of them that are in my area have met her in person and love her BUT are leary of the breed. They are not promoting BSL for any breed and I must say that unfortunately, APBTs have the largest# of idiot owners IME and I OWN one. There are good owners out there but look at that number compared to the idiots that US ourselves complain about on here.

It doesn't matter what breed you own if you are irresponsible BUT for APBTs since they already are in the negative limelight, people tend to see the irresponsible owners more than the responsible ones.

Oh, my dog is CGC too, I just don't want people thinking that if a dog park requires CGC then automatically they wouldn't have to worry about fights. The CGC test didn't have much if anything to do with manners around other dogs, more with manners around people.

"APBTs have the largest# of idiot owners"............. where are the fact's on that one. thats a crock of s##t supported by only your opinion. i would be willing to bet if you took a serve (sp) of idiots most would have a different breed. one steep forward & tow steep back. if they come to kill the breed remember you would be one of those idiots they would come after.

Just as an FYI- before I get flamed. I DO NOT take my dogs to dog parks, NEITHER ONE. My GSD would eat someone's fluffy for brunch if he went to a dog park.

Ben, I said IME(in my experience) about the owners. I DO think that the APBT as a whole has MORE Irresponsible owners than responsible ones and unfortunately, the public sees and hears about the irresponsible owners more than the responsible owners. I meet on AVERAGE A WEEK, 15 STUPID IDIOT owners, I would say that 5 own small dogs normally, 5 own labs and the likes and 5 own APBTs or at least mixes that they claim as APBTs. Ever seen an APBT on a flexi in PetsMart, my GSD and I did the other day. Not a good thing IMHO!

I do not feel that the average dog owner should own a dog let alone an APBT. Honestly, I wish there was a dog knowledge exam required before being allowed to own ANY breed. We need more responsible owners for this breed and every breed IMHO!!!!
