My pups are 3 1/2 yo. Daizy, for those of you that dont know her, is cripple, from Chorea that has left her w/out motor skills. Well, she has some, but she is very very shakey and walks like a drunken sailor.
The vets and specialists said she wouldnt live to a year. Well, she has shown them hasn't she? In the last few months, after all this time she has even climbed the front porch stairs-takes her awhile and she will fall so I dont encourage it, AND finall can sit upright w/out sliding onto her belly for a short period of time. Daizy is the reason behind my passion. Daizy is my inspiration. Sure I love all my dogs like children, however Daizy has that something special. This is why I carry her everywhere (She's 45 lbs!) up and down stairs a million times to potty, hand feed her alot, let her on the couch, give extra treats, etc, etc, etc. Daizy has given the entire family a different outlook towards all living creatures as well as on life ourselves. Yesterday she wasnt acting right. Didnt scarf her supper down. I thought well maybe, dogs get sick, she wsnt feeling well. There was no shrapnel-evidence she eaten something that's upset her, so, I just kept at it and eventually she ate. I gave her a bath OMG Thats a chore in itself! Holding her up w one hand and washing w the other, unbelievable, I think I pulled a muscle! But over a period of afew days I have noticed that getting up from the laying position, she looks like she is struggling more then normal. She used to pop up, panting and wobble away. Now she closes her mouth, and struggles a bit more, stumbles then starts walking . Its just "different" I pray, that she is not starting her trek "downhill" so to speak. Frankly, If I lost her-I dont know how Id keep it together. The thought eats my gut. Please send good vibes her way. And, say a prayer for me because I just dont know how strong I can be if she actually starts to decline. the next few days should tell. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I assume if she gets bad enough we will. But her condition is so rough on the joints anyways that once she starts going downhill, it the damage has already been done, and I doubt postponing her suffering will be an option. Her joints will be what does her in when it is her time. I have had her on glucosamine forever, and maybe that is to thank for the past 3 1/2 years. She seems-sore?
Thanks, and I appreciate everything being sent her way. She is my everything-silly to many-but she is. |

Daizy is doing fine. I tend to get really scared when she has bad days
![]() I think she may have been sore from her bath. Since I have to hold her up w my left hand against her chest, she still is going like crazy, legs going everywhere. That and possibly she was really mad at me lol. Thanks for the vibes and prayers. I hope she hangs out w me forever ![]() |
