Hi I'm new in this forum. I joined here because i adopted a puppy almost 2 months ago. And I want to know your opinions about my boy, at the shelter they told me he is a pitbull mix, but a lot of people is telling me that he is pure bred, i know it's hard to know because there are a lot of breeds that are similar to a pitbull, but anyway i would like to know opinions of people that really know this bred. This is my boy Chance, he is 13 weeks right now, this pictures are from yesterday. Thanks everybody.

Cute pup, definitely has pit bull in him, but without papers on him, there's no way for you to know if he's full blooded or not. I love his face in that first picture.

Thanks, yes i Know, without papers it's impossible to be 100% sure, i can't see any other breed on him, except of any bully breed, so how big you think he will get? he was 23 pounds a week ago, i'm guessing maybe 50 or 60 pounds.

I'm pretty sure Bug is just APBT, but we're in the same situation as you - don't know the parents and their lineage. If you don't know, all you can say is that he's a pit bull mix

I did recently find out, however, that Bug was bred by some BYB who were dogfighting - which is why she was brought in to the shelter. She had been taken from her litter at 3 weeks old

thanks guys, well according to the people at the shelter, Chance was thrown out of a car window when he was almost 1 week old, so nobody knows much of him, i was a little afraid at first because i didn't know nothing about socialization and those things, he didn't have playmates or even his mom to show him some good manners, and sometimes he growls and tries to bite, we've been working with him, a lot of socialization, puppy playdates and he is been doing great, he loves people, he loves other dogs, and gets a lot of attention. We really love him, and want him to be a good dog, but it's really sad that some people is afraid of him, and he is only a puppy.

Actually, i think he has short legs, that's why i was asking how big he can get, he's weighing 24 pounds aprox. that was his weight last week and he is 13 weeks old. And i've been asking around my neighborhood and everybody says he has big paws and he will be big. So i'm really confused.

He is probrably a purebred. Shelters/animal control centers usually say pit mix instead of pit because they think that potential adopters would go for a mix and feel more "at ease" than a pure pit.

13 weeks and 24 pounds = a big dog when its older. you can typically multiply the weight at 12 weeks by 3 and get an approximation on what he will weight as an adult. so he might be about 70-80 pounds as an adult. he really is cute though!
