Default liability pit bull insurance
I would like to get a APBT but I was wondering if anyone has liability insurance on their dog and roughly how much it is? I rent from my buddy that owns his home but instead of putting the dog on his home owners insurance, I was thinking about getting liability insurance on the pup.

State farm renters ins + 300,000 liability for the dogs runs about $30-40 per month where I'm at.

1 million minimum liability on a dog! That makes me sick. I guess I'll give state farm a call or see about if the vet could make up some new papers for me. thanks for the info guys.

Sorry got my price wrong, It is a min of 1 mill here, but its only 50-60 a month for it.. The pet health care is 80-100 here. my bad.

But yes its a million here because it will cover all the other dog's medical bill's + any law suits or damage to property, etc.

We upped our homeowner's liability policy because we have DOGS in general. I do not wish for my family to be forced out of our home all because someone we thought was a friend sued the clothes off our backs because one of our dogs scratched him/her. And yes, these situations occur every single day.

I'm a person that strongly believes in covering your family's behind in the event of something such as this.

Face it, if you own dogs, cats or horses, you own "liabilities". And even if someone is trespassing onto your property, if your dog jumps up on them and knocks them and, or worse bites them, then you are most definitely liable in a civil suit should that person take you to court.

IMO it's about being responsible. However, I do NOT appreciate the BSL version in that all "pit bull" owners much have liability insurance but forget about all the other animals out there as it's obvious they don't ever injure anyone.

And for the record, dramatically upping our liability insurance from the standard amount to our present amount maybe added about 15 dollars a month onto our mortgage payment. It's not that big of a deal for something that could literally save us.

I think it's depends on where you live. In the part of Ohio that i'm at, State Farm will not cover you peroid. If you have a pit bull type dog you can get striaght liability insurance, but it's 600$ up front for a year with no payments, you have to pay it all at once. We have home owners insurance that covers them. It's farmers insurance. They have no restrictions on any dogs at all, and I told him we had "pit bulls" so we really don't pay any extra for the 100,000 liability coverage. I think for our home owners policy it's 45$ month, that's included in our mortgage payment.
