The silvery/blue puppy? Looks like an APBT to me, but I'm no expert! I do know that they used a huge variety of dogs on set, my manager's sister worked as one of the dog trainers/handlers...

Thats cool, your sister must know her stuff. I wonder if he will be in the movie. i just saw the video in the red box movie vending maching thing and was kind of stunned. i wouldnt expect Nichelodeon of all things to feature a pit bull on the cover of a movie, Id say thats pretty good publicity. Now wether or not average joes notice it is another thing.

More then likely its an am. bully breed not APBT. BUT in the movie I believe there is a APBT or mix that is 3 legged.

Now, Whether its a good thing or not as far as publicity goes...Personally I feel its not a good thing in many ways for companies to be advertising APBT...They have them in commercials, movies etc. the problem being is the word is spread around about the APBT just has a "Bad Rap" but many people distort that and it becomes people trying to make the APBT something it is NOT. Actually because of advertising and such there is people who get APBT and try to rehome them saying things like "Has never been trained to fight so it gets along with other dogs" kinda thing which is very misleading to those who don't do their research...same with the fact this movie the kids have several dogs living together...which in actuality...the chances of that are pretty slim...but now because of the movie I am sure people will try to do similar things.

I know in the movie though there is mastiff's (Including bullmastiff and a regular mastiff) a couple JRT and mixes, german shepherds, a Beauceron (its the dog who looks like a doberman its NOT though) and a few other misc breeds. I don't believe that blue bully is in the actual movie though from what I can recall...all I remember is the dog whom appears to be a apbt or mix with 3 legs.

Info I found. The Blue one isn't in the actual movie but used for photo's kinda thing.

Movie Producer Is Devout Pit Bull Lover
Movie producer Ewan Leslie is a devout pit bull lover who works with Karma Rescue in Los Angeles. Says Leslie, "When we started working on the movie, I told Mark Forbes, our head trainer from Birds and Animals, Unlimited, that we had to have some pits in the movie."

Film producer Ewan Leslie insisted that the movie Hotel For Dogs include pit bulls.

Film Crew Rescued Dogs During Movie Shooting
"Chelsea," the three-legged pit bull, who appears in the movie, is actually the very first pit bull that Karma ever rescued who happened to be adopted by a dog trainer for movies. During production, Karma rescued Pearl, a young blue pit bull who was abandoned in a parking lot. Leslie brought Pearl to the set everyday. Pearl soon became the set mascot and was adopted by two crew members. Pearl's floppy ears and wrinkled expression appear on the movie poster.

Pearl, a blue pit bull, appears on the promotion poster for the movie Hotel for Dogs and was adopted by a film crew member.

While shooting for two days at the West Valley Pound, the cast and crew chipped in and sprang six dogs—five of whom were pit bulls. According to Leslie, a crew member adopted a brother and sister duo, and Karma Rescue found homes for the rest.

Wow that's awesome! I love hearing things like this! It makes my day soooo much better. Also, anyone been into Petsmart lately? They have Pit Bulls on a lot of their promo things, like the potty training book cover and sometimes on their dress up posters.

I think you may be reading into what other people think a little too far. Not saying it dosent happen, but ive never seen a dog advertised as "this dog is a pitbull that hasnt been trained to fight so it automatically gets along with other dogs." Just because there are alot of dogs living together in a movie dosent mean alot of people are going to go out and try to have a ton of dogs living with them because of a nickelodeon movie. if adults are that easily influenced over a kids movie to the point they have to try and be like them then they are screwed anyways, its just a movie. Most people arent even going to recognize the dog as a pit bull, and if they do, so what? Was the little rascals bad for the pit bull too?

More then likely its an am. bully breed not APBT. BUT in the movie I believe there is a APBT or mix that is 3 legged.

It was a cute movie. I wanna go buy it. I don't remember that puppy in the movie but as someone said there is a "pit bull" type dog with three legs. And I'm sure there are a couple bully breeds running around in there...

i watched this movie a while ago on the internet. it was cute and yea that was a pit bull type dog in the movie. the only thing that irritated me about this movie was they were suppossed to be rescuing strays but almost the the dogs in the movie were purebreed. they should have added more mixed and mutt breeds. espically the chinese crested there arent that many chinese crested strays......or am i wrong?

I don't know, we just had a member adopt one of those "hairless" cats... forget what their actual "name" is, but I'm thinking it was a rescue type cat... I could be wrong, but I know there was one that was adopted. I would think those Chinese Crested dogs could be expensive... they just look expensive.... lol

Ok, thanks for the info, I watched this at work tonight and didn't see that puppy at all, couldn't figure it out although I saw the 3 legged pit and a brown dog that looked pit bully. Was a little suprised to see a "stray" mastiff, beauceron and crested though. Don't see a lot of those running loose but whatever.
