Another thing to take into consideration, because this is a senior living center and not a private residence, their insurance may not allow pit bulls.

In many ways your suggestions are supporting my tentative plans. I am going to look for a Senior center resident who is capable of caring for an energetic dog and wants one. Many details will fall in place once such a person is identified. Maybe a pittie is not the right match. That would be too bad since they offer the twin gifts of companionship and loyality.
