My friend has a Tri or "Black and Tan" with white APBT bitch.

Just for fun we posted on craigslist asking people to guess her breed.


OH EM GEE!

98% of the replies said beagle Mix.

Then there were other responses of : Rottie Mix, Dobie Mix, Burmese Mountain dog mix, German Shepherd mix and Border Collie Mix...


This dog doesn't look like ANY OF THOSE BREEDS. We were sitting here laughing are butts off at the stupid responses.

Another person who breeds ROTTIES actually said she looks like a Rott/Lab mix!!!

LOL. I guess If I was going to guess from the first picture alone I could see how it might be a Rottie Mix. But From the face shot I can tell it looks like an APBT.

I think a lot of people think that only the breeds you mentioned come in that color. The guy has been around the breed for 15 years?? Probablly lives next door to someone who owns APBT, because he is obvioulsy not a well informed man

Aww, your friend's tri-color is a total cutie! Lots of people tell us our dog must be mixed with rottweiler or doberman – we don't have papers (except adoption ones from the shelter ) but our Molly looks to be all APBT just like your friend's pup!

Oh, someone did call her a border collie mix one time when we went lure coursing; the announcer kept calling her "Molly, the Border Collie mix" whenever it was her turn to run – uh, lady, there's no fluffiness on my short coated dog

I did some research when we first got her and there's something called the "agouti gene" which causes this coat coloring – many breeds carry this gene, the APBT included.

The first picture I can definitely see where they are getting the rottie mix from. She seems to be shaped like one a little bit.
The second one you can see the "pit bull" face in her.

The angle of the first pic makes her seem short/thick muzzled, she's slightly heavy in bone, and kind of chunky, so I can see where the errors would come from. Reminds me of a swissy in the first shot, or a rottie cross. I'd love to see her conditioned, I'm a sucker for tris.

What a cutie!! I love the tri's..and in our BSL-tainted city, "beagle-mix" is what we pass our little flashy red nosed red brindle off as on her paperwork..and most non-bully folks buy it.

yeah she is on the chunky side I agree, shes really pretty in person pictures just dont do her justice no matter the angle they look a little weird. in person she almost reminds me of a Staff bull terrier with as short and stocky she is. Shes actually a weird mixture Colby X razors edge and watchtower...so basically APBT/Am. Bully but she doesn't look am bully at all really, shes maybe 40lbs, and is shorter then my knees just a really nice dog given the breeding.

I get told that Kush is not an APBT all of the time. A lot of people think that he is a rottweiler. Sometimes people think that he is a coonhound too. I have even had people try to argue with me about it. One lady told me that I was a liar and that my pup was definately not a "pit bull".

I had someone think Locus was a rottweiler once, and she isn't even a black and tan. lol.
