My best friend had an english Bulldog named Walace. Walace definitly has issues that I am not even going to go into. I have been trying to help her fix the issues but walace lives at her mom's house and wont follow through with the training and obedience.
Anyways, when ever I go over there Walace is always happy to see me and runs to me to give me kisses. He will then roll onto his back and pee. I believe this to be submissive peeing. Yet he does not do this with anyone else. He does it with new ppl but he has known me his whole life and he is 3 years old. I cannot figure out for the life of me why he pees around me. I have never hit him or been mean to him I usually play with him and give him some exersize (he doesn't get that much). Any thoughts on why he may do this? |

I've read that some dogs get so excited to see a certain person that they will pee, maybe that's what your friend's dog is doing.
I feel for you because I also have a friend who along with her idiot boyfriend are completely clueless as to the proper way to raise and train a dog, no matter how much I try to make suggestions they're determined to do it their way and as a result are going to end up with seriously messed up animals. |

I am sure you are the only one that have given the dog any direction or obedience, and give the dog activity that bonds it with you. The rolling on the back is being submissive and the peeing can be submissive as well or the dog when excited can't control his bladder. When you say the dog does this with new people does he roll over as well or just pee? If the dog does not roll over I would guess that in your case as well as with new people that Wallace can't control his bladder when excited. I would recommend that you and new people that visit Wallace ignore him when you visit until he has settled down. |

Thanks for the advice. He pees when he is on his back. I have never seen him pee out of exitement when he is standing up.
Here is the problem this dog has no consistancy. Brooke my best friend bought Walace for her self while living on her own. She then had a hard time with him so her Mom took him in. Brooke then moved in with her mother and her other Dog (MAstiff) and her moms new english bulldog truman. So 3 dogs live in this huge mansion with no rules or boundries. Then Brooke moved out of her moms to another house on her own with the Mastiff and left Walace. Now the dogs get switched around from one house to the next From Brooke and then back to Mom. Don't get me wrong they are great ppl and do care for their animals they are all healthy and well feed but they have a hard time with disapline and I wish so badly that I could help. Maybe I just need to let it go and do my best to play with him and exersize him when ever I can. |

So 3 dogs live in this huge mansion with no rules or boundries. ![]() To me it sounds clear cut...the dog has no limitations, no discipline...and no consistency in its life. The dog (probably all the dogs in that family) needs some Obedience training. The peeing sounds to me like excitement to see you....DieselDawg is right...when you come in and the dog starts to roll over with excitement ...you should walk away. ![]() |
