I find that if you want a really long leash 20 or 30 ft long a horse lunge line works great. it is really strong and can take anything a pit bull can dish out without breaking. After all it has to handle a 1500 lb horse.
You can get them at any tack shop or feed store. Tractor Supply have them and they are very reasonably priced. |

that is not a good leash for a "pit bull" and here's why...
a hard pulling dog can easily break those. Also if he is extended, or his strength extends it you lose control at that point. The size of the snap link is not sufficient for a full grown dog. My pup broke a similiar sized one on a cable run at 5-6 months old. Those are crap. You can make your own lead that will be durable and effective for 8-10 bucks. Go to a tractor supply store, rural king, home depot, or something similiar then... -purchase 5/8 nylon rope in whatever length and color you desire. - purchase a bull snap, and two 5/8s rope clamps. take it all home and get a hammer. You will then make a small loop around the bull snap at the desired size and hammer the rope clamps closed at that spot. Burn the ends and you have the bottom that will attach to your dogs collar. Then make the desired size loop at that top and repeat the same steps as you did at the bottom. Now you have a strong and durable rope lead and the pride of having done it yourself...you can customize your leads for length, to match your collars, etc. |

good post rai
I agree with the thread you posted. Flexi leashes are an accident waiting to happen. You can not control any breed of dog on those. Even though I can walk with Peanut on loose leash I still keep him on a short leash just because when I walk him I don't want him to walk into people we don't know or go up to a strange dog to sniff him not knowing if that dog is friendly or knock someone over OR if you are walking a dog on one of those leashes what is to keep it from running into the street and into a car? IMO they are very dangerous |

Speaking from experience, that's not a good leash for a pit bull. Loki suddenly lunged and ours snapped into and the plastic end sprung back and hit me in the arm. Luckily it didn't hit me in the eye cause it sure left a huge bruise on my arm. Then I had to catch Loki and get him back in the house. They're a great concept but not strong enough.
