Hi,

I am trying to figure out as close as possible to how old my adopted dog is. When I got him I was told 5 almost 6 months, but I have a really hard time believing it.
Right now he weighs 44lbs, he has his big boy teeth and just generaly seems more mature than a puppy of that age. Is there anyway to narrow down the age? Or is it all just a matter of guessing? Any specific Milestones to gauge by?

There is really no way of knowing his exact age but im sure you will get some guess's best bet is to post a pic of him.

He's adorable! I really am not good at guessing age, but I would think that dog is 7-9 months from looking at him.

But I could be WAY off lol

Best way to tell is by looking at the teeth, but that's only good up to around a year old, and after 8. The years in between are anyone's guess!
If there is no staining or build up...teeth nice and white with no wear, he's probably under a year.

Very cute...

I believe, though don't quote me on this, that a Vet can give you a rough estimate based on his teeth.

If he was still intact (not fixed) he would start marking about 6 months of age. maybe kicking up ground between 6-9 months of age after he pees. Hard to say from the pics but he looks great...

The paw head comparison pic looks really close to my Tusk and he's 9 months right now (we rescued him in May at 5 months according to to vet). Ok, our vet's estimate could be off by a month or two, but that seems about right!

He is SO CUTE!

He looks like he is around my Rocky's age, about 7-8 months. Rocky is very laid back for a puppy of that age also. He sure is a cute boy. Here is a pic of Rocy at 7 months.

Good looking pup! I'm with everyone else.. maybe right under a year.. He's a cutie, I love the spot over his eye!
