Default Well a couple questions,
I guess my first question is are there any other pit owners from the upstate of SC on here? And my second one is, My female Is a little over a year now and im expecting her heat in the next few months. Are there any reputable kennels that offer stud service in the SC NC areas?

Thanks, Shane.

I understand, maybe you can help me though. I'm tired of hearing everytime i find a blue male around here that actually has UKC or adba papers its about 12 inches tall and 90 lbs and he "come off of outkast kennels" or he's "an ultimate blue dog so he will produce really short big headed dogs" and thats not what I want.

Why do you want to breed your dog? Have you showed her or done anything with her worth her being bred? And why do you want to breed her with a specific blue?

Yes, you should not breed for color.

Also a person whos responsible with there dogs wont breed until the dog has titles for one, and two they usually wait until the bitch is 2yrs old/24months. Once the bitch has finished growing and matureing basically

Breeding your 1 year old dog is like letting a 13 year old have a baby. Technically, the equipment works, but they still aren't mature.

You've been given some great advice.. I hope you'll consider it all

A dog shouldn't be bred until they've been titled, health tested, and are mature. Titled - in conformation, performance events, etc. Health tested - this doesn't just mean a check up at the vet. It means having their hips, eyes, heart, and sometimes knees certified as not having any hereditary and debilitating diseases that will be passed on to puppies. Mature - normally around 2 years of age, though it's not a set in stone time frame. Though I do believe most of the health testing that needs to be done can't be done on a dog younger than two years conclusively (you can do preliminary tests).

Great info Teal... and I agree with Lassic.... most of us aren't going to just recommend a "stud service" right off the bat because your 'pup' is in heat... too many things to consider before you breed your pup.... PLEASE, read this FIRST!!

To me breeding is inhumane. It'd be like If we used a 14 year old girl to start making babies and sell them. We live in a nation where dogs outnumber humans 45 to 1 (last I checked), we don't have enough space for the dogs we already have.

I don't believe it's inhumane. If you are breeding the dog, litter after litter, then yeah, it's inhumane, but just breeding a dog isn't inhumane. It might not be wise, but not inhumane.

The actual breeding of the dogs might not be inhumane, but the treatment most of those puppies will get probably is... so in the end, if you hadn't produced them they couldn't have been treated wrong.
