Ummm, i was playing around with the settings and added a few easter eggs. It all levels out around 80. I'll see about publishing a list somewhere. Some last for less than 3 posts.
Keep it up then, I like the random stuff...

One thing for the various chat threads- could the have the forum they are in, put in the thread name??

ie sssf chat 2012

when looking for new posts, it isnt obvious what forum that particular chat thread is actually in...

(we dont want dilly wandering over into sssf again do we???)

edit to add

that could be confusing jj

then all chat is thrown in together, I still prefer my idea for this one (the mods or even the OP in vbulletin could change the thread title quite easily)

I think that the various chats should stay seperate, it makes following the seperate forums much easier imho

It already does that if you read right across.

it doesnt appear on the screen on 3 of my net connection devices- only on the big screen does the full link actually show

on my phone it certainly isnt easy to find the forum the chat is actually in, it takes about 15 keypresses to find out if its chat in sssf, tt or sg...

Are you using default forum display or the mobile default display?

both, altho 2 are using the remote login rather than a direct connection- as like several people here, its used to save jumping back and forth between devices and pages...

I think the chat threads for the three different sections should be renamed to avoid confusion - "SSSF Chat", "Scribbly Chat", "Tech Chat" etc.

Also, new users should be not allowed to post links, or at least their links are not displayed until cleared by a mod.

That's better, the date doesn't need to be in the title as it is already displayed. New users are limited in attachment posting.. links and linked images or any other privileges should be limited for a minimum of two posts up to a max of ten. Two posts should be enough especially if the first post is limited to hello before being able to post elsewhere. Mods can check all hello posts and if it is a previously banned person then they just get a private message saying this user is blocked.

waves hi to D.O.

(hows the motel room??)

I have been trying (in vain it seems) to show roughbarked that it is impossible to `ban' someone by username (even using the `supersecret mod tools' LOL) in fact its almost impossible to ban someone prior to any actual on forum misbehaviour at all

I can use a dozen different ways of bypassing everything that he wants to do, without even having to try hard

but you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink....

and some people dont even want to acknowledge that the water is even there...

horse water drink

some people have to believe they are all powerful gods- if they wanted to, a well set up person could destroy a forum within weeks- luckily as the many people who know me in person know, I wouldn't do such a thing

but believe me, I am SOOO tempted.... just to show I could

roughbarked, you have a LOT to learn about what exactly can and cant be achieved

and bignoting yourself isnt the way to go about it- you might even get someone agro and pissed off even LOL

(not to mention for someone who does know how to set up a widespread network like myself- it makes you look rather the fool)

I am seriously starting to dislike you, and thats hard to do- that normally takes me a couple of months to actively not like a poster

Good

I have proven my point. I wasn't bignoting but I did get you to show you that knowledge is a weapon. Even though it was true that the odd troublemaker eventually never came back.. it was because he met that brick wall. The problem is, that there are always new ones.

The smart ones just shut up and get what they came for.

I'd think that this make people think about what they do.. Just allowing them to link anything could be disastrous.

Raises Hand:

Please, sir, can you enable the user display posts option?
(The number of posts individuals can choose to display per page)
At the moment it's stuck on "Forum Default" which is 50 posts per page...
is there an option wherein we can choose the number of posts/threads we load?

EDIT:
Went & had a looksee... I know there are hundreds of options to tick-off during
the initial set-up phase, so in the interest of cutting through the clutter I'd search for
where the setting might be located under: "User Setting/General/Thread Display Options"
There's a Cut-Off Date option.. but what I was inquiring after was a Number of Posts & Threads
each individual can Choose to Display Per Page in order to customize the experience for Dial-Up Members.

It was there early on, then it went missing in one of the reconfiguration sessions.
It would be nice because 50 isn't nearly enough.
