Default microwave cooking - elevation old hat?
Is my elevation platform in the microwave proven unneccessary old hat or a valid cooking aid in the microwave that I am unable to replace? Not seen in shops for years

It is a simple nylon frame scaffold raising the cooking area 5cm above the glass plate.
It is marked microwave use only - Victoria Australia (made here ?)

elevation was meant to assist pastry like on pies etc

Meant to stop the pastry bottoms from going soggy I believe.

Quite handy.

I agree with the previous responses. It allows air circulation, thus preventing soggy bottoms.

I thought it was to allow you to heat two plates at once.

That's how we use it.
