I just had to pull Bill down and roll him over to examine his front paws. felt in between the pads, seem to be OK but he was limping a bit.
anyway, when he stood up things got weird.
his back was arching more and more. his anus was pulsating.
thinking he might be constipated I was feeling underneath.
at the base of his penis were two huge hard balls. (he's desexed)
his penis was getting harder and harder. his tail's between his legs
he couldn't walk properly. sort of tottering on his back legs.
I was just about to get an ice pack and see if that helped. I felt again and under my hand his penis relaxed, the lumps disappeared, he wagged his tail and was back to normal.
his penis never protruded.
what the hello happened and what if anything should I do?

I really, really dont want to be the one to reply to this thread, but as noone else is......Sounds like a normal "stiffy" to me. I have ony had one desexed male dog, and I think that used to happen to him - but he was a fluffy dog - so couldn't really see what was happening.

They're normal, at least for un-fixed dogs (in addition to their actual testicles).

It's all normal, the swelling is to lock his penis into the female when mating so they don't get seperated too soon, if ya catch my drift.
